Does anyone else belong to a 24 hour gym or more than one gym? And Why??

Mine would be yes because of long hours and late nights. Best part, it's not crowded and you can workout in peace.icon_smile.gif

I don't because there isn't one close to me, and the gyms around me all have about the same hours. My gym has weird holiday hours and summer hours, so occasionally, I'll pay for a day pass at another gym. I don't think I'd get a membership at a _second_ gym though; but maybe someone who does can enlighten the rest of us as to the benefits?

Yes- A 24hour Snap Fitness. Works great for my schedule and when I travel or visit family I can go to any in the network.
I also have a membership to a climbing gym. It has walls and bouldering, but also offers Yoga and Pilates.

2 gyms that are both 4 hours here. One is dirt cheap and next to my house. But it has really nasty showers and an unclean, cramped locker area so I can't use those facilities. Also, it has a limited selection of machines. But because of my company discount it costs like $14/month. It is good before work and on weekends because I can shower at home right after.

The other gym is way more expensive but is one of the best gyms I've ever been to. It is close to my job so I can just go there during lunch AND SHOWER, or I can go right after work when traffic is bad.

For me, the appeal of them being 24 hours is more about convenience on late nights after work or in the mornings before work.

    Well sort of....

I'm a dedicated YMCA member and would probably never leave our YMCA's, but I do like to sample other gyms. In Wichita, I've had a guest membership to "Genesis" and 24 hour fitness and a couple of others over the last several years. I like seeing what else is out there, it makes me aware of what other gyms are offering and whether my workouts at the Y really make sense based on facilities and what I pay. Considering our Y's are some of the best in the country, I haven't ever seriously considered changing.

Yes. It's convenient for me to get to and there are several in the city. I initially joined for the pool so that I could train for triathlons but I find that I like work ing out there during off hours and on the weekends.
I also work out at my gym at work and have an Eliptic and free weights at home...so i guess I'm pretty covered.

My gym just went 24x5, i.e. closes at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
They will be open 6:00 a.m. to noon on Thanksgiving day.

I went to a 24 hour gym for their one month promo last summer.
I was a good place & relatively clean + it had a steam room & sauna + a pool. My only problem is gyms that have these short pools. I am so used to swimming laps in a 25 yard or meter pool that I just get frustrated in a short(20 yard) pool....I hit the wall too soon & they are usually too shallow at low end for flip turns without scraping the bottom.
So go to this new pool that has 8 lanes or more and lap swimming all the time + a daily fee of only $2 & $3 on Saturdays. They even had a water polo group. I back this up with a local gym that currently has a promo & great hours 6am-10:30pm.
I use to go to my college gym but they got fancy & the fees went up. They use to charge $90 quarterly for both the pool & fitness center but now with the new facility they want $350 up front so I stopped going.

Climbing gym sounds nice. The 2 gyms I belong to don't have a climbing wallicon_sad.gif

I belong to 2 gyms in order to train with my trainer and in a group. Both are 24 hour - 1 has staff and does close on holidays the other uses a key fob and isn't staffed all the time, but is available 24x7, 365!

I belong to two gyms. The first East Bank Club because its got the best facilities in the city (Oprah used to go there). The second gym I belong to is part of a hundred year social club which gives me connections.

Technically I belong to 3 gyms. My apartment complex has a gym but I rarely ever go to it; mostly cardio and treadmills, very few weights. My command has a brand new, fully functioning gym. I use it as a backup 24hr gym from time to time. The one I go to most is on a Coast Guard base. Absolutely state of the arts, sauna, pool, cardio room.... plus all the hot Coasties there give me motivations to workout.

I chose Coast Guard gym cause of the eye candies.

I go to 2 gym. A small gym by my house for personal training and a 24 hr fitness for my swimming. I also tend to workout either late at night or very early in the morning.
