hey guys! hope everyone's havin' a great weekend. So I'm in the process of really putting myself out there to meet down-to-earth, like-minded gay friends who are into sports and nutrition. Things are going great in my life right now...great career, amazing boyfriend and I have much more confidence in myself since coming out in January. Only issue...I'd love to continue on that path and chat with guys across the nation! 95% of my friends are straight (and married), so it's time for me to really break away from that and meet new people!

RJ seems like such a perfect place to meet cool guys and build friendships! This site has done so much for me in terms of me coming out and feeling a sense of community in the gay world. So, here's my putting myself out there! Hope there's others like me who want the same thing! lol.

I'm afraid I'm in a similar situation, where most of my closest friends are straight and married. I don't mind too much as I'd rather chill with good friends and have a beer over having some silly pink mixed drink at a loud gay club.

I follow predominantly tennis, basketball, and football (though this has been more of a recent pleasure) Any other like minded folks in so cal?

Count me in. Not much into college sports though other than rugby. Do like pro football - Green Bay and Patriots.

I feel like I'm addicted to sports. I'm pretty much in the same situation. Majority of my friends are straight because most gay guys can't talk sports. Unless someone can prove me otherwise. Andrew Luck for Heisman. Give Boise State a top team for a bowl game, like Houston, or the Indianapolis Colts(yes, I know they're professionals). And someone needs to beat Green Bay already. They're not going undefeated or getting another championship...this year.

There is a sports section here on RJ, but it hasn't been all that active in a while.
If you want to share your passion for sports, start posting there. Maybe people will get more involved with the sports section.

Other than that you're much too far away to hang out and watch a game.

I'll hang out with you, smth. I love college football and basketball. I also check out the Grand Slam events and some soccer (football)-- EPL, Copa America, and World Cup.
You know there is a gay sports bar in WeHo, right. Yes, you can have your very serious pink drink and watch sports. They serve beer too, or so I'm told icon_lol.gif

I'd like to do the same... problem is I know jack shit about sports. Truth is I don't even know how to through a fucking football or even how to pitch. My parents were always so damn protective that I never go to play sports like I wanted to. Also, being the bigger guy... I always to picked last for anything sports related. I want to join a sports league and learn about them and get in to it cause it looks fun and I know I'd enjoy it. I love hockey, football, soccer, la crosse.... and I've kind of got in to them on my own but it sucks like not having friends to share that interest with... or anything like that. I hardly have any gay friends and the ones I do have are so princess and won't be down for outdoor things. As it is they bitch when they break a sweat. My straight friends are all for dinking a fool or are married/about to be married. Sucks....

Try this thread under the football section:

Hawkeye7 was/is in your same predicament. The football section was thriving (like Ermine said).

I am a huge sports fan! I love football (Lions and Spartans), baseball (Tigers), hockey (Red Wings, MSU) basketball (MSU and Pistons--when they finally settle the lock out). I watch other sports too like Tennis and some golf. I play wallyball (volleyball in a racquetball court). I am too old to play my true love, basketball competitively anymore. Would love to chat with other sports fans!! icon_biggrin.gif

Idk. I enjoy watching a game on TV as much as the next guy every once in a while. But I'd rather play sports than watch them icon_razz.gif
