Its my favorite holiday of the year, no stress and tons of gorging on great food

My favorite is stuffing...so good and so good the next day on leftovers with dark meat turkey and cranberry sauce on rye bread

    will also be eating

    turkey with gravy..duh
    stuffed shells
    candied yams
    green been casserole
    cranberry sauce
    stuffed celery
    mashed potatoes

pumpkin and apple pie for dessert.

they say the average Thankgiving meal clocks in at 4-4500 calories. I believe it. its the one day to indulge..and the of course indulging in the leftovers...we all will eat better next week. Time to let the diet go and not feel guilty

BBQ ribs sounds pretty good. icon_biggrin.gif

Speaking of turkey.. Who prefers to deep fry? I heard it's the best. But I'm a little weary of trying it myself. Looks dangerous.

It is dangerous if the location, process, and safety procedures are not right.

The turkeys come out wonderfully "flash fried". When I have done this in the past, we have had several people bring their turkeys for frying. Peanut oil is expensive, might as well fry as many birds as you can.

I'm going to a vegetarian and raw food Vietnamese restaurant, which is good.

I don't particularly like traditional Thanksgiving food. Turkey is blah. Don't like mashed potatoes. I'd rather have apple pie or pecan pie than pumpkin pie.
I like cranberries and yams, but candied yams are just gross.

One thing I miss from not having Thanksgiving with my cousins is homemade tamales. So delicious.
Maybe I'll make my own on Friday.

    We're Asian-ing it up a bit.

Tea-smoked turkey - we made that on Sunday.
    Turnip cake.
    Dry fried green beans.
Brussels sprouts with roasted peanut sauce.
    Roasted purple yams.
Cranberry, pearl onion and ginger relish.
    Persimmon pudding for dessert.

I made one on Saturday with friends. Got it from Cajun Grocer in New Orleans with the pork sausage. It was really friggin good but definitely use a meat thermometer since it took longer to cook than I thought it would.

    Thursday, I'm making:
    turkey
    brussels sprouts with bacon
    asparagus
    mashed sweet potatoes
