I begrudgingly read the first book after a friend kept bothering me to do it. Definitely hooked and watching the trailer gave me goosebumps. I've learned to embrace my geekiness.

I didn't know there was a book series until this thread - I'm definitely going to check it out! I saw the preview this past week and instantly wanted to see it.

Can't wait for it. I haven't actually read the books yet. I'm going to wait until after I see the film. Most of the times if you read the book first, you are dissapointed in the film, I don't want that to happen lol.

RIGHT?! But I just saw the trailer a week ago and just sped through the book and its soo nicely written, hopefully the movie does a good job at representing it. Now I'm starting the Catching Fire.

If you liked Hunger Games, you should watch this movie:

It's similar and is definitely epic (don't mind that it's not Hollywood)

Sometimes the books veer into sappy Twilight teenage girl territory but overall this should be entertaining. And lenny kravitz as cinna is BONUS!

I just finished reading the series. I cannot wait for the movies.

My twi-hard friends are all starting to debate if they are team Peeta or Team Gale.

Apparently those that were team Jacob will be Team Gale.

Those that were Team Edward will be team Peeta.

I wasn't a big fan of the Twilight, but I can assure you I am team Peeta...

    lol

As a Battle Royale fan I was a little peeved when I saw this trailer.

Anyway, I've read the books and they're fun so I'm sure the film is going to be great.

Excited about the movie as well, just hope the movie doesn't skip any parts since the first book isn't really long.icon_biggrin.gif

I'm going to check this Battle Royale out. It sounds interesting.

I sort of thought the premise for these books also came from a story I remember reading in school when I was a kid.... "The Lottery" - Where all the kids in a town have to put there name in a bucket and a name gets drawn every year and that person got stoned to death - as a sacrifice to the gods or something like that. It's been years so I may be jumbling up - but the premise did seem like a combination of some familiar stories.

However, the books were well written. The stories had a good pace and kept your attention. - In fact, I was disappointed when I finished the 3rd book because I wanted there to be more. - And for those who weren't sure after reading the first book if they should go on - do.

I thought the second and third books really flipped the story around and made it even more interested. The third book moved so fast, I finished it in a day.
