my bf gave me his year old i-phone about 2 months ago after he upgraded.

as i have lusted over an i-phone for a long time; i was thrilled to get it.

gotta say today; i am somewhat disappointed with it.

i find it no easier to text on (the majority of my cell phone usage) that my older propel phone.

it does take better pics...but not THAT much better.

i find the sound quality, for the few phone calls that i maek, no better or worse than my old phone.

also, AT&T is charging me $20.00 more per month than with my old phone.

anyone else somewhat disappointed with this much-ballyhoooooed cell phone?

What you had before was a cell phone that had PDA abilities.
    {Personal Data Assistant}

What the iPhone is, is a PDA that makes phone calls...secondarily.

AT&T is not charging you $20.00 more, you are. No one forces people to use smart phones. Smart phones use data. It is one of their primary purposes. If you got it because of the cool effect but don't use data than go back to your quick messaging phone that does not require data. I hate iphones. I think they are the fisher price of smart phones but they do offer way more value with data and apps than a quick messaging phone. Choose your poision but understand the choice before you make it.

I'm in love with my Trac Phone. 30 bucks a month, no contract. Of course It's not a smartphone, just phone with limited internet access. It's good for me..icon_biggrin.gif

Love my iPhone 4S - just upgraded from my 3gs a week ago and it's very easy to see the difference.

Having said that, siri is pretty much useless for me at this point - Apple hasn't "indexed" Canada so siri is quite literally banned from searching for anything within Canada. It's utter bullshit. If you launch a product in a country, and you heavily advertise a feature of said product, MAKE SURE IT FUCKING WORKS IN SAID COUNTRY.

Aside from that, it's a pretty good device - the camera is leaps and bounds better than it was, and actually is quite useful....but that is tempered by the fact that just about every smartphone has had a better camera than the iPhone since it originally came out. Good job on catching up about 3 years too late.

All in all, I really like it - worth a hardware upgrade, but not worth full price imo

And my plan is hella-cheap for what I've got, about $70 taxes in for maximum offered data and a decent voice plan with unlimited txting and eve/weekend calling.

I, however, bitched very hard to my carrier and got put on a retention plan, I WAS paying about $130 taxes in....

Fuck you Canadian foreign ownership limitations

I just got one and love it! I'll start flirting less with RJers and more with Siri!

I have had my 4s, my first smartphone ever, since it came out. There are great things about it, but there are bad things about it too.

The other morning, the alarm didn't go off. My iPhone was really screwed up. I couldn't access a lot of things. I couldn't even shut it off. I had to force a reset (hold the home and lock buttons for 10 seconds). Thankfully, I had downloaded the user manual to my iPad. One of the apps I had been using may have been the cause.

I also just got my first bill. It's insane. I have the cheapest data plan, and I barely use any of it. I use WiFi almost exclusively. I'm paying way too much. I was also annoyed that I couldn't add my iPad to the same plan. It requires its own, so I just got a WiFi only one. It's actually cheaper to turn my iPhone into a WiFi hotspot than it is to have a second data plan. It's ridiculous.

I feel the same way as the op. When I first got an iphone I was psyched, but I started getting tired of it as soon as the apps started getting old to me. I'm personally going to sick with blackberry because I'm a blackberry fanboy, but a far as the quality of cell phones I think Droid is as good if not better than apple. The Samsung galaxy s2 is the best phone I've ever used.

I went from a flip phone to an iPhone 3GS two years ago so I had no known anything different than iPhone... so I'm biased.

I have to say when I switched to iPhone I actually use the cell phone (and I like it). Before, I would make excuses not to bring it with me.

    wrong, no neck!

AT&T assessed me the extra 20 buck data charge against my wishes; i tried to refuse it and could not.

as i stated in my initial post (that you did not read!) this i-phone was given to me by my bf.

i was happy with my old phone; the "cool efect" is wasted on me.

lift less strenously and read more carefully, no neck!

No neck, well that's mature. So you use a product with a company and did not bother asking them cause and effect. They put on a plan with the phone you used and that is their fault. They did it to you. The smart phone requirements is on their website and customer service would have educated you on that. I also suppose your boyfriend handed you the phone and never told you it requires the data plan and I need to read? wow dude. The comment of cool effects had nothing to do with who gave you the phone. It did have to do with becoming clear with why you were so happy to finally get one. Some people want it because they have access to what they want through internet and some people get it because everyone else has one. That has nothing to do with judgement. If you don't use data than a smart phone would be a bad choice. So honestly, did you also call customer service after your bill arrived whining about being victimized for the choices you made?

The only thing I don't love about my iPhone is that in order to keep myself grandfathered into the old unlimited data plan I can never use the mobile hotspot option where I could create wifi for my laptop.

iPhones are over. AT&T is offering 1cent deals on many phones for the holiday season. Check out the Samsung Focus.

poor desperate samsung. apple shit all in their punchbowl, pulled billions of dollars of business and gave it to Sharp, et al. so samsung got all pissy and made a cute but irrelevant commercial.... if samsung wanted to get people to buy the S2, they would have made a commercial that people (who aren't apple fans) would understand... poof, right over the heads of most people (except fandroids... who already own an android phone). my sister saw this commercial and said 'i don't get it'. touché.

people that like apple don't buy samsung. people that like android don't buy apple.

btw, it's 'to each his own'.
