deeley1 saidI watched an episode of queer as folk where brian has sex with a few guys in a 'gay bathhouse' ('the baths').
Is it actually like that? What are they actually like?
And, if you've had an experience in the bathhouse....what happened?...
Go check one out and you'll have your answer. Here you'll just get opposing views.
Opposing views not only because guys have different personal attitudes towards bathhouses, but the bathhouses themselves can be as different as night & day.
Some are dank holes, little better than an unfinished factory basement. So-called steam rooms are cold & dirty, with a moldy smell I can only term New York City subway station.
Yet others are palaces, with fully equipped modern gyms, columned Grecian decor, luxurious large swimming pools, attractive glass-walled gang showers, leather upholstered media lounges, immaculate saunas & steam rooms kept at a perfect temperature, and elegant amenities everywhere. All very much like an upscale spa for men. And of course everyone nude or with a towel wrap, or some minimal gym wear in the workout rooms.
One place where I was a member had an extensive poolside complimentary buffet on weekends, complete with a carving station where the attendant was dressed in full chef's whites. In stark contrast with the members standing around stark naked, rather amusing to see it. Of course you paid a premium price for all this.
So bathhouses can vary greatly, from dumps to dazzling. You can try checking them out online first. And of course make sure you understand what safe sex is all about, and practice it without exception. Even the poshest places will have HIV-poz guys there, and carrying other STDs as well, you must just assume it, a given. So that if you feel insecure navigating such a risky health environment then don't go there, no matter how attractive it may appear, nor how tempting the easy sex with strangers may be.
