keeping a tone twink body?

    so pretty much like what do you guys do? im just wanting a slim nice swimmer build not BUFF- not that there is anything non with a buff body but i wanna keep my "twink" style body but with some sexy definition icon_smile.gif lol

    any suggestions on what machines/ routines i should be doing?

    food suggestions that help you guys stay within a healthy balanced diet? icon_smile.gif
    *i stick to a more meat free diet but meat is ok*

    Hey,

    I've got the same goal, and I had two bad years and now I have a lot of catching up to do. This year I'm starting to eat primal, working on agility training, and getting outside more to run and hike. I also found out I have a blood sugar issue and for the first time I'm going to get treatment for it.

    Over the years I would say the most important thing is to keep exercising, keep eating right, and keep seeing your doctor (and really be watchful about anything going wrong so you can intervene.)

    I can say for myself, and speaking about my friends too, that even one year of not caring for yourself can really do a lot of damage to your body. So even if you start a new job, get unemployed, start grad school, move, etc. etc. (anything stressful), keep caring for yourself the best you possibly can. And be attentive, because weight gain, tiredness, etc. those things don't normally happen, they mean something is wrong.

    And keep reading! Read as much as you can about health and wellness because that will give you the greatest education in how to stay fit!

    Start working out with free weights. It will tone your body. Do a weight that is easy for you to manage and keep strict form and do high reps. Your body will tone but not build muscle.

    A "twink" build / look is more a result of physical maturity levels than anything else. As you grow and develop that will change. It is rather rare to see 48 year old with a "twink" build.

    Depending on how active you are and what your metabolism is like, you will really have to do very little to "maintain" although time and hormones will kick in whether you like it or not.

    You do not have to worry about getting "buff." The amount of time dedication, energy, focus and committment required is most likely not even in your game plan - it is rarely in anybody's really. Some guys love to say they don't wanna spend too much time lifting in the gym because they don't wanna get too muscly and buff. Trust me - it ain't nothin' they gotta worry about.

    Keep doing what you are doing - stay away from refined sugar and processed foods and you should be happily twinkie for as long as nature and yer DNA sees fit!!!!

    Swimming, running, free weights, yoga, dancing... With your goals, almost any type of exercise will keep you trim and twinky. Take advantage of the variety available to you. Just don't lift heavy.

    This is similar to questions a lot of women want to know about: how to get a toned, shapely body without looking muscular or bulky. The best thing to do is some type of weigh training using lots of reps with lighter weights. Fewer reps with more weights builds bulk, more reps with less weight tones and defines. If you're looking for something to do at home, there are tons of great options. The Firm workouts are pretty good and have plenty of choices to mix it up. Pilates is also another good alternative. Dancers use it alot to get very shapely muscles without bulking up. BodyPump classess put out by Les Mills (they have a class locator on thief website) would be a good choice since they spend about 5min working a single muscle group with relatively light weights. Any cardio with help you stay in shape but adding some resistance work is the only way to get that toned yet twinky look you're shooting for.

    i don't know about toned and twink. in my mind twinks don't have much muscle... they just have low body fat so you see what muscle they have. so unless you have a really good metabolism, seems like you wouldn't eat much and just do cardio.

    The look I think you are talking about is defined muscle - which requires SOME muscle growth and strength. The rest is about keeping low body fat so that the definition is visible.

    Think of swimmers - incredibly strong but not bulky at all.

    Again - you do not need to concern yourself with getting BIG. Unless you put a TREMENDOUS amount of time and energy into achieving that - it will not happen.

    hey im wanting the same thing and i think im doing a good job at it! i do the machines (including legs) and then i do some free weights for your arms and whatever else you want, do the ab machine a lot! make sure you do some cardio too, it helps keep you from getting that "buff" look, I use the rowing machine and do about 2 or 3 miles on it, i also eat right!

    Do lots of ab work till you get a six pack

    Do a lot of cardio

    Train with weights so you've got some chest, biceps, back development, the twinky look is so much better if you've got a little muscle to go with it, otherwise you will look wimpy, not twinky

    I hear this often, actually, from men who like the twink look to women who--strangely--are looking for an excuse NOT to work out: "I don't want to get too bulky."

    Getting bulky is not a magic consequence of working out. You'll find that becoming even muscular looking (twink-sized) is difficult to develop and maintain. No bodybuilder ever went to bed with a spider bite and a fever and woke up--OH NOES!--with a buff body.

    Work out hard (the only way muscle is built). Slow down when you've gotten close to your goal.
