Yeah, when I was last in Cancun I heard about a gay bar, but I never made it there. Anyone know about a gay scene in Cancun?

If you are after partying you probably picked the right place, at certain time of the year it's full of spring breakers.

Other times it most caters for package holiday makers wo only want sunbathing and get drunk.

Although I passed Cancun on many occasions and it indeed is convenient entry port for exploring the rest of the Yucatan, it's no quote my place.

Even the Ciudad Cancun is a little bit more interesting for me than Zona Hotelera.

But indeed if you are just partying it's fine - try Senor Frogs..

If you are more of an indie traveller, try the Ciudad, or dump Cancun and go explore the rest of Yucatan.

I went to Cancun last year with a bunch of friends (all gay). We actually had a much better time in the straight clubs than the gay. Be sure to check out Coco Bongo! We went to two gay clubs which aren't on the strip: Karamba Bar and 11:11. They were ok but we had wayyyy more fun on the strip.

Keep in mind, the Zetas Cartel holds sway over the Yucutan peninsula although they have done well to keep the violence away from the area. It's not a battle zone for the cartels so the violence has been held down. That said, they are there in force.

Good advice - stay away from drugs.

Can Cun is not very gay, but it is a great place to explore Yucatan and Quintana Roo, don´t miss Coba, it is only 30 min from Tulum, one of the great archaeological Mayan sites. Don´t pay attention to the Zetas stories, the whole place is peaceful and people are very friendly, do your homework and read about the place, your friend and you will have a great time

ChangeofName saidI've been to the Mayan Riveria... and visited Cancun. Ive never actually stayed there. Im curious about the party life, and demographics on the strip. Im going with a straight friend of mine. He will be my wing man, and Ill be the same. We got a excellent price on a 5 star resort in the heart of Cancun. I wanna avoid large crowds but I also kinda wanna make the trip fun for my friend since he had a shitty time in Rio Brasil.

    Any suggestions / clubs. ?

I'm in the travel industry and sell Cancun a lot. I'm curious as to the resort you chose. Is it Excellence Cancun by chance? You said you are at a 5-star one.

    ChangeofName saidRiu Palace Las Americas

the Excellence from what Im told is thy best, but as for the demographics that stay there... id assume that its targeted towards retirees (nothing wrong with that) but we want to kinda meet people in the same age group. To tell u the truth I dont know much about Cancun, this is my second time going.

There is not much to know! Eat, Drink, Fuck and be Merry that's all.

Karamba was a good place - the other one in town (and I cant recall name - this was back in 200icon_cool.gif was not recommended as it was a hustler bar. Be careful - simply stay on main roads - no back alley cutthroughs or action!!! BTW the new Westin was being built in 2008 - it looked nice. Any feedback?
