Post your schedule and I'll periodically consolidate then below. Then you can see if there are any matches. Track the thread for periodic updates.

    Hey UStriathlete,

Thanks for replying on this thread (it was doa for a while). Revamped it to see if others would post thier schedules and we could discuss specific raises. Read your profile and see you are quite the triathlon veteran. Would love to pick your brain.

Would love to chat about the Vineman, in particular, the river swim. Never done one of those before.

Regarding the Wildflower, I am thinking of doing the olympic instead, as my son wants to do it with me. Are you familar with the olympic bike course? Any nasty hills?

    HI

the river swim at vineman has to be the most easy swim every in triathlon.

the river is only 4-5 ft deep. you can stand at any time. it's an out and back swim so you have current going against you at first then with the current on way back.

Wildflower OD has a few hills in it, especially within the first few miles. its a rolly course. it's only 40k and hills are fun! practice practice practice icon_smile.gif

    hope that helps

Hoping to go on another cruise to the Mediterranean in late summer 2012, but the cruise is currently sold out and won't know for several months if some cabins open up due to cancellations.

Wow, a Mediterranean cruise with a tri on board. That could be an interesting marketing ploy. icon_biggrin.gif.

Thanks UStriathlete. Glad to hear the river swim is easy. Of course I must consider the source of that statement. What is easy to someone who has complete some 26 Ironmen icon_eek.gif.

Did you say you are doing the Vineman? What other races do you have scheduled for 2012?

    Hey US -

Posted your schedule. I might be interested in doing the Super Frog OD down in San Diego in March instead to the Arroyo OD. Is the swim in mission bay or the ocean?

I use my 2006 Sepcialized Allez regular road bike and I am doing just fine. I am an average biker but I am always amazed to see that I go faster than about half my age group who have super fency and expensive bikes. When doing some iroman 70.3 I am one of the only one without a triathlon bike and so what...
So don't worry about your bike and go for it! It's really a great sport.

Doing my first triathlon in May in Galena, IL. It's a sprint distance: 660-yard swim, 16.8-mile bike, 4.3-mile run.

Although I'm pretty experienced with the run and bike, swimming is all new for me. Started with my first lessons after the new year. I'm now fairly confident I won't drown. icon_smile.gif Need to try and get in some open water practice with a wetsuit before race day.

    Wish me luck!

Hey KT, good luck. That's a healthy sprint you are doing there. You are wise to get in a couple open water swims ahead of time. Get ready to get hooked!!

Hey wzm1, did you signup for the olympic or the half? I am still debating. I was planning on doing the olympic, but realized that's on my daughter's b-day.

What can I say, I'm a heat and humidity wuss. Love New Orleans (big Saints fan). Been there in late April a few times and it was just tolerable. Couldn't imagine doing a 70.3 at that point. Get them to move it to March next year and I'll do it with you icon_biggrin.gif
