This is scary. I have a friend that had the warts. He said that his doctor said it was "the gay man's disease"...meaning it was typical in the gay community. The more partners you have the greater the risk....that is why im with only one person.

Sorry, but this statement stigmatizes people who have been infected HPV -- it's like saying ALL people with HIV have been promiscuous and/or irresponsible. All it takes is ONE time with ONE infected person -- someone who may themselves not be "promiscuous" (which in my way of thinking just means they have sex with one more person than you do) or "irresponsible". All that it means is that someone is passing their bad luck on to you.

Up until recently, most men were unaware of the danger, and therefore weren't bothering to take precautions agains this. Truth is, HPV is something a condom MAY NOT protect you from (due to the way it is spread). So thinking that you're safe from it because you are with one person is at best -- as it is with all monogamous couples, gay or straight -- a hope or an educated guess. A higher chance you are protected (so long as the person isn't already infected OR that one of you doesn't stray), but it's still just a hope.

I realize that in many locations it's not an option, but get yourself a gay doctor; they tend to be on the alert for things like this. I switched to a gay GP last fall and he's made me aware of all kinds of things that are good to know for gay men. The doctors in his office do the HPV test as part of a regular physical in addition to doing more thorough blood work to monitor male-specific items.

FYI: my PPO didn't fully cover the test because it was "non-standard", but the peace of mind is worth it.

I'm a total slut, I couldn't begin to tell you the number of lovers I've had in the past year, and I don't have HPV. I think it's the condoms. By protecting myself from HIV, it carrys over to HPV.

I did on one occassion meet a cock with several pointy warts on it and had to reject the poor guy out right.

You can still contract HPV even when a condom is used. You can have it know and just not show any signs. After my friend got it I went to my doctor and got tested. Sadly, there is no test to diagnose this. So the only way you will know you have it is when you start showing symptons.

If everyone was "Responsible" and the select few only caught it by "accident", why in the world is it still so wide spread?

Resposible gay guys might just be a minority...

Muchmore, there are plenty of other ways to get off with another guy with another guy. You could 69, frot ( full body naked hug), or mutually masterbate. You could figure out other ways for yourself. The important thing is to stop behaviors where infection is now, as that article pointed out, startlingly easy to get.

When the cons finally out weigh the pros, sexual behavior on a whole will change.icon_neutral.gif

ALSO!!! I'm a young guy and I've never have any type of sex. So I don't really understand the genesis concept of STDs. If everyone is born clean, how in the world are they supposed to get infected? Assuming they only mate with people in their generation? @_@

Asked that when I was a kid in school and the Abstainance speaker was at a loss for words... -_-

"G0Y" from urban dictionary .... [A G0y is a homosexual man who does not practice anal sex. G0ys consider anal sex indecent whether it be between man and woman or man and man.
Ancient Greeks were mostly G0ys since anal sex was prohibited (and illegal) but all other displays of affection between men were considered normal. Temple prostitutes were labelled perverts because they engaged in anal sex. Thus, a G0Y (Spelled with a ZER0), will engage in all forms of spiritual and physical intimacy with other men except anal sex.
