CELEBRATING THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY

As some of you know, I have been involved with my bf, Will, since the end of September, 1998. With the 10th anniversary approaching, I'm looking for some interesting ideas. I've encouraged him to take a vacation and really enjoy ourselves.

We had chatted online prior to meeting, but it was on Sept. 27th of that year we met for the first time.
I was clueless and hadn't even acknowledged I was gay.
He was "Mr. experienced", having been out for a number of years and having had 2 previous long term relationships. I had my girlfriends.
He always insisted I was far too conventional for this and he could see me married with kids down the line.
Neither happened. He did try and break up with me at one point several months into the relationship.... he insisted I needed to see what was really out there and not be satisfied with him. He put up with my 4 hour sessions initially, then drove home to Salina at 1:00 a.m. He did far more than I.. to make it work.
We've never had trust issues, never a knock down fight (We have a couple of serious disagreements a year when I get the silent treatment). We have similar interests, but very different personalities. He is the only bf I've ever had.

He's been patient when I've had "admirers", my fanatic behavior with fitness, my lawn, house and life in general. He's asked for little in return for the most part....

While it has been largely long distance, he has been involved in all my major decisions and has always been supportive as my number one counselor. He could have just jerked my chain in the beginning like so many do, but instead he has earned my love and admiration.
A very important part of my life.

I want to thank him and show him my appreciation. We've had a couple of major trips since I've known him and want to do something very special.

    Ideas?

Congratulations first of all, my partner and I celebrated our ten years together in January. We were thinking of doing something special but we both got sick in January and it took until Valentine's day to get a dinner in.

I think a nice trip is a great idea, especially if you both like travelling. I have taken my partner on three trips where I treated him for most or all of the expenses. Hawaii, Barbados and NYC (this year). On his birthday this year we saw "Jersey Boys" on Broadway which we both reallly liked.

I would try and do something a bit out of the ordinary so that you will both remember it for years to come. Many straight couples never make it to the decade mark, let alone gay couples.

We've got 20 years coming up in 2.5 weeks. I don't have a clue what to do for it.

    Congrats!

July 1st is six years for us. Six years, four military deployments, one giant health scare, one MedEVAC from Iraq and currently living 10 hours/641 miles apart and still kicking.

A trip is definatly a good thing. I can recommend a little tiny guest house in Acapulco, Mexico that is perfect.

Sheesh! And here I was feeling pretty good about myself not being utterly bored after five months! Ten years? Twenty years? I don't feel quite so accomplished anymore...

But seriously, congrats! Kansan, I like the travel idea. How 'bout a little bed and breakfast somewhere, then something unique and fun?

We just got dressed nice and went out to dinner someplace for our 15th last December.

Maybe a day at a spa for the both of you? full body massages and pampering?

I say a 10 day cruise. Somewhere tropical. If you need a tour guide, I volunteer (for a fee, of course) :-D

Better, get drunk first instead... then I'll take care of the rest. I'll get YouTube to sponsor me. icon_twisted.gif

Well Kansan, I'd say do something that you just normally wouldn't think to do, something out of the ordinary. Montreal would be nice. A cabin in Jackson Hole? Of course, Boston would be a great place to come! icon_biggrin.gif

Since you're in the middle of the country, I'd vote for someplace on the ocean.

I say pack up the mtn.bikes and head off for a few days at a nice Bed & Breakfast, near a beach/lake and some hilly terrain. Get good and sore and tired and soak in a nice hot tub and go for a nice couples spa....massage/ mud bath...and enjoy the company with some good music, food and beverages of choice ....Congratulations and many more years to you both!icon_cool.gif

Go to the next RJ bootcamp! icon_razz.gif

Hmm, but that's in November... or just go to the resort on your own. icon_razz.gif
