Do you guys have six packs year round or do you go through phases of bulking and cutting? It seems to me like it would be impossible to put on a decent amount of size while maintaining a six pack year round.

for me personally its tough to do year round in fact I find it impossible. The fall and winter months are for eating, you have football, you have the holidays, its not as hot so you are hungrier. Too many temptations.

Basically April to October is my abs month, I still do the same ab work in the fall and winter but diet is much more strict in the Apr to Oct time frame. That coincides with beach season as well.

even the shredded guys you see in magazine do not look like that all year round. I am sure there are freaks of nature who do though...lol my boyfriend is one of them

I agree with Jerseywoof....I have a hard time through the winter months. Right now I'm trying to up the cardio to offset the extra calories of the holidays but it is tough. The abs definitely suffer.

I have it year-round, but I never really gain any size - have been roughly the same weight for the last couple of years.

depends on the amount of stress i'm under :/

more stress = less focus to eat right and time to do cardio icon_sad.gificon_sad.gificon_sad.gif

I can't seem to get a 6-pack. Is that because I'm too olde?

Nice try pal, you don't have winter in Phoenix,

We do. It gets really cold here in Phoenix some time.

    It does....Burrrrrrrrrrrrrr icon_wink.gif

Well then for heaven's sake put on a shirt. You'll catch your death!

I wore one all day. In fact, if it gets any colder I may have to wear long sleeves tomorrow icon_eek.gif

I will have a full on six pack in a year once I hit my weight goal of 200lbs. I am currently 185lbs with 10% BF.

    I have a 6 pack when I flex.

I have been keeping ~ 10% BF for the past year or so. I am still trying to gain some size so I don't want my BF to go much lower. I have gained about 15lbs in the past year. When I started working out 2 years ago, I had ~ 12% BF. I noticed little gain in how fast I was able to put on muscle with 12 vs 10%.

I do however think I would not be gaining as fast if I was at 7% BF. That is my BF goal once I hit my weight goal. So my compromise is being able to gain size, but still having a 6 pack if I flex (which means I keep ~10% BF). That is what I recommend.

*sobs* you bastards....we're about to have an unseasonably warm chinook, and temperatures are expected to be in the high 20s.

I keep mine year-round. But I also don't try to bulk up and gain weight. I keep things consistent.

High 20's? How do you people live like that? It never gets that cold here because it's just not good for palm trees icon_lol.gif

Because it's easier to cuddle with people obviously.

This, and cuddling with a cactus isn't preferable.

Maybe we should ask this perplexing question to the current MOTD who appropriately has the screen name "Sixxpack"

Mine have gone 'under cover' this past week. I've gained a few pounds and it's all my b.f.'s fault. He cooked a whole Thanksgiving dinner and has been feeding me (us) too much. I've got to double up on my hundred crunches a day and go back to my normal 5 to 6 small meals a day. Sometimes a hand full of almonds are all I eat - for some of those 'meals'. My six pack better be back soon - or I'm eating almonds for Christmas dinner!
