With all that's going on in the world, this is what Faux News is spending their time on?

Personally, I don't see how him being a former porn actor is relevant to him being a teacher.

QueertyKevin Hogan is an English teacher, English department chair and crew coach at the Mystic Valley Regional Charter School in Massachusetts. Or at least he was until FOX News “investigative reporter” Mike Beaudet revealed to the school that Hogan had starred as Hytch Cawke in porn films such as Fetish World and Just Gone Gay 8.

Now the school has placed Hogan on paid leave while they investigate his hiring to quell the school’s concerned puritanical parents. The reader commenters at FOX all have the same question we have: why harass a perfectly good teacher for his completely legal past? Had Beaudet already revealed the sordid pasts of all the state’s other public figures?

Well would it better if it was a non-news person that brought it up.As much as I don't thinkl that doing porn makes a person bad and with the money porn makes you can't cut it out of job possibility. But saying that I still can't see it being a good idea to go into teaching b/c someone somewere is going to see it.I mean if it was a former job you should put it down on your app,if you don't then it must mean you know it's not a good thing to do.Of course it was likely a parent/student crusing though the local porn store that just happened to see the teacher on one of his movies. And he is on paid leave so he's not broke yet.Hopfully some that are struggling with money but want to become teachers will not go to porn to make it until they land that teaching job.

I think I'm gonna open a university that lists prior porn experience as a requirement for all professors and staff.

As a teacher myself, I can't pretend I would be comfortable working alongside a porn star whilst training young, impressionable people...

What I do object to is the "witch hunt" which is going on. He's very much a human being. And good on him trying to better himself..

I'm very curious as to why it would make you uncomfortable.

Would you be equally uncomfortable if he had a former career making gory Horror films?

    Or violent action fliks?

or is it just porn that can corrupt the young and impressionable?

Not trying to flame you btw - genuinely curious.

If there is a morality clause in his contract and if he was not forthcoming about his past, then he is in breach of said contract...because he is dealing with children.

About twenty years ago the same thing happened to a young woman, who used to be a teacher and she was stripping and she was forced to quit teaching.

Almost all teachers have a morality clause in their contracts.

Shit, opened a can of worms here.

I don't know. Obviously I've never worked with a porn star, so I don't know how I'd feel.. just my initial reaction is "how inappropriate"

Wouldnt the morality clause come into effect if he lied? Like if they asked him "have you ever done porn before" and he said no that would be immoral right?

As for the question at hand, I must ask, how is he as a teacher overall? The article seemed to make it seem that the students enjoyed working with him, that he was improving the environment by being the head of the english department as well as coaching the crew team, and overall a joy to be around. Who the fuck cares that he fucked on camera?

Are youy kidding me with teachers are held to a diffrent standard because they are teaching children. Most people men and women who go into teaching know this!

I can't beleive that this is actually a debate. I would not want a former porn star teaching my kid male or female for that matter.

It's a broad and open ended question are you kidding. This man is around children and it depends on who his contract reads. Neither you or I have read or seen...right so we don't know.

I really would like to know in what way you think his former career has any impact on his effectiveness as a teacher. I'm legit interested in your opinion here... because like Jboy84 said, his initial reaction was "how inappropriate," but couldn't really say why. Can you?

Unlike you I don't see porn as morally wrong. If you cant handle other peoples opinions maybe you shouldn't be posting. My god come up with something other than "just because."

    Idiot

Unfortunately having any kind of job history in the adult entertainment industry tends to limit you from certain fields of employment later on, especially anything that involves children. I don't agree with it, but that's the reality of the situation. A former porn star is going to have a hard time doing any job with kids if their employer knows about their history.

Are you kidding me with this. What if it leaked out one of the children and they started asking questions...that's disruptive to the flow of learning are you kidding me this!

Mostly, if lied that goes to his credibility as a teacher!

    OMG!

So... your answer is because the kids might find out about it? Just so I'm clear. And no... I'm not "kidding with this..." I'm just trying to get you explain your concern.

So... what if the kids find out that Mr. Hogan cheated on his wife last year and got a divorce?

What if they find out Mrs. Jones had a baby when she was 16?

What if they find out Mr. Carson is gay?

Who makes the decision what is and is not morally acceptable for a teacher?

I love it! When idiots dont understand that ! goes at the end of a sentence and not in the middle of it.

Seriously brah, sex isnt that big of a deal. So what, a kid starts asking him questions, anyone with half of a brain can deflect it easily.

"What does this have to do with sentence structure and where punctuation goes on a sentence?"

done and done. That being said, porn is NOT that big of a deal.

It's obvious that you're simply unable to explain yourself. Next...
