And I am leaning towards the parents. Cue attack in 1...2...3... BAM! LOL

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2068280/Billboard-showing-bare-chested-men-outrages-parents.html

And if you are too lazy I've posted the story below, enjoy:

"A billboard showing two bare-chested men on the cusp of a kiss has outraged parents who claim the ad is too risqué for their children's eyes.

Parents say the advert, placed at a number of locations throughout Los Angles, California, will add to youngsters’ ‘premature loss of innocence’. The photograph, taken by outlandish Spanish photograph JP Santamaria, is to promote a gay dating and social networking website, Manhunt. Its creators say the poster shows ‘two models in a sexy but tasteful pose together’ - and that they went to great lengths to avoid placing it near schools and parks.

But Kelly Cole, a single mother of a fourth grader, said the image was impossible to miss on the way to her son’s elementary school. ‘It’s not the blatant porn-iness of the over-lit image, or that it is of two men,’ she explained in a Studio City Patch article. ‘It would be equally annoying if it were hetero. ‘It’s the fact that I am forced to figure out a way to frame to my fourth-grader the fact that some people like to find causal sex partners fast using their mobile phones. ‘I know some would tell me to use the opportunity for an illuminating conversation. But I don’t need Manhunt Mobile to set my Important Talks Agenda. Our family really could have gone awhile longer without that particular conversation—and should’ve been able to do so.’

The advert is for Manhunt on mobile devices, where gay men can see other gay men in their area using iPhones, iPads and Android phones.

Following the launch of the campaign, Jason Harvey from Manhunt admitted the company was inundated with complaints about the posters. But advertising agency Lamar, behind the campaign, ensures it went to great lengths to ensure no billboards featuring the photo were ‘within 500 feet of schools, churches, playgrounds.’ ‘When we originally placed the units, we used our restriction codes that we have in our system for alcohol, to make sure that we were placing Manhunt in appropriate locations,’ the representative said. ‘Beyond that, we spent all day yesterday auditing each one of their locations to make sure that we didn’t miss anything or that a school/pre-school hasn’t popped up recently near one of their boards. We found a couple locations that were down the street (within 500 ft) from a church, so we have scheduled a rotation to move these boards to a better location for Manhunt.’

Manhunt’s Jason Harvey added a similarly sexy advert for Michael Kors featuring a male and female model has not provoked the same level of outrage. ‘No, we don’t have any evidence that there weren’t any complaints to Michael Kors, his ad agency, or to L.A. political officials,’ he writes on his blog. ‘But we highly doubt that several media outlets approached them like they did us. Because, for some reason, gay sexuality is still scary and controversial for many people.’ He added that Los Angeles had been the city of choice for the poster’s launch as it is ‘the focal point of our highly sexualized film and television industry.’"

Me: I hate that the ManHunt guy added the whole gay-sex-is-taboo argument. It's like the cause-I'm-black defense. Fact of the matter is that regardless of what type of overtly sexualized imagery, hetero or homo, it’s something kids shouldn’t see. Granted that with hyper-sexualized hetero images it is easier to explain to kids, because all their lives they are told that sex is between a man and a woman. But with this type of issue the parents now have to explain that there are such things as homosexuality to their child and that opens a new can of worms with the already confusing and sticky subject of sex.

Yes... those same kids who are taking guns to school and flash mob robbing 7-11s are being ruined by those billboards.

What is our society coming to? Next thing you know they'll be hiring porn stars as English teachers!

Look personally, I think the poster is very damn tacky. Why is it that some gays have to always take things a little too far? Jeeze, However, I do not think there is anything wrong with having it up. I think there is a double standard here. I mean its ok to have a picture of a half naked man and woman up but its not ok to have one up of two men? really? please explain?

On that note, they should remove, all cologne, perfume, underwear, and jewelry billboards as well. What about all the XXX billboards and strip joint ads flooding the sides of the highways?

People are so sexphobic in this country. If people would be honest with their kids then maybe they wouldn't be so overanxious to have sex as teenagers. The taboo is what makes kids want to mess around at an early age.

I'm sorry, but I hate Manhunt because they give money to anti-gay Republican groups, not to mention the ads are gross, but I do not have a problem with them advertising in this way. Children need to be educated about sex early on and this ad just makes parents have to talk to their kids.....GASP! And you know damn well we've all seen ads where a shirtless guy is about to kiss a woman in a bikini, advertising an island get-away or whatever. It really is because it's two men.....plain and simple. This is just more proof of how uptight Americans are about sex.

How is she retarded? And yeah she could lie, but still the fact is now her kids gonna ask what's with two guys almost kissing. Now she has to explain to him homosexuality and that is gonna be messy.

Point being that these convos are supposed to happen right around puberty when it is the proper time. Now if she does have the talk with the kid he's gonna run off to his friends and start trouble with his peers and possibly at school.

And yes I know many of us by fourth grade knew of sex, but still that’s not the point. Haha.

Um what are you talking about? The kid is a fourth grader. We are talking about elementary school kids here, between ages 5-10.

You can't be so ignorant to the circumstances of today. Fact is it is still easier to explain to a kid that sex is between a man and a woman. Should a kid see the picture or billboard of a guy and a girl half naked and he asks what are they doing. The mom can lie and say whatever. But when it is of two men or two women it becomes harder. We all know that.

Now the kid is gonna ask and the mom has to explain things that are socially much more complex than sex. Should the kid go to school and start trying to imitate these two guys he is going to be in for some fucking shit, again something WE ALL KNOW OF.

It is better to explain things such a homosexuality when they are much more developed and have a better understanding of their social surroundings. Not trying to act like some fucking child psychologist but that’s what it is.

This just complicates things. Imagine if the poor kid went to school and tried to kiss some other boy because of what he saw? Imagine the shit that would happen to him. Yes sounds farfetched and totally fucked up, but that's how it goes.

And personally I'm irritated cause it's fucking ManHunt, shits for hook ups and booty calls.

Very good point. Even though that stuffs a bit more avoidable. But I guess just as easily accessible for kids.

This isn’t about sex. This is about the fact that it presents socially touchy issues to children. Hello!?!?!? Even as a gay guy I wouldn't talk to my fourth grader about orientation or sex until they were old enough to fully understand. Right around when they are going into puberty.

Shit like this rushes the process and education of kids. They are too fucking young to understand these concepts and ideas. That's why there are so many sexually fucked up kids.

Dude......how the hell is explaining how two men sometimes love each other "messier" than explaining about a man and a woman love each other? You're sounding a lot like a Baptist now.
