We just got back from Key West after 10 days following our 165-mile SMART Ride, returning Wednesday, Nov 23. But we knew we'd really need another break down there, especially after my cancer surgery on Mon, Nov 28.

So I just confirmed 3 nights, Sat-Mon, Dec 17-19, a little early Christmas Eve getaway and gift for both of us. I'll separately notify our local KW friends (RJ and non-RJ) to look for us, make dinner reservations for us all as I typically do.

Our usual duplex suite is waiting for us, our special private parking space reserved. And at a lovely tween-season rate, with an additional manger's 20% off.

If any RJers plan to be there, please e-mail me directly, and I'll make things happen. Fly in, and I'll personally pick you up with our car and take you to your lodgings. Just let me know. icon_biggrin.gif

So what you are saying is that you are a "gay mover and shaker" who commands - no, demands - special treatment?
Sounds just like airline pilots. icon_twisted.gificon_biggrin.gif

Thanks, it went great, had it Monday, Nov 28th, and I posted a thread:

    http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/1987512/

I even rode my bicycle Thursday, and today (Fri) I took a golf lesson. Did request we just do putting to not strain myself, and the green is near the pro shop bathroom, as I'm still having urgency moments. And still passing more blood than I thought I would, but I'll see the urologist Monday anyway, will ask him. Otherwise doing just great!

I'm surprised you're so naive about how the system works, or do you just pretend ignorance in order to take personal digs at me?

The trick is having influence & connections, that translates into more business & profit for hoteliers, restauranteurs, and other merchants. We bring them additional guests/customers because we know lots of people, and actively promote businesses that treat us well.

We demand nothing -- it is their pleasure to offer us deals, or comp some part of our meal, give us a bottle of wine at dinner, waive the hotel parking fee, whatever, because we bring them more business, or perhaps return them some other favor. One hand washes the other, and they get their money's worth, as do we.

This one hotel knows we've brought them thousands of dollars in extra income, just from our gay friends alone. We take their best room and spend well, and are quiet & ideal guests in every way. Isn't that worth a little consideration on their part, to have us and our friends return again & again?

What you fail to realize is that I cultivate influence with some degree of success, whereas Hyacinth craves influence with comical incompetence.

A phrase I have never used in my life ("Do you know who I am?"). Something that was drilled out of me by my parents at a very early age. And words I never heard them speak themselves.

I'm sorry your range of experience is so limited, perhaps mainly to reading US supermarket tabloids, or some such distorted image of social circles outside your own.

I'm aware of no one who would say DYKWIA. Either others already know who you are, or else you keep your mouth shut. To speak of it yourself is totally déclassé. But you are forgiven for not knowing that.

In other words, being a "gay mover and shaker."

You mean you actually have "straight" friends? This I find quite puzzling, in light of your recent postings about how you find women quite "untrustworthy."

Art_Deco saidWe take their best room and spend well, and are quiet & ideal guests in every way.

Of course... any establishment is thrilled when you pay them a visit - it's a visit by one the celebrities from "A-List Wilton Manors."

Your jealousy & envy is palpable. But personally mocking me changes nothing, neither about myself nor about you.

I offer the example of how gays can have a good time on little money. If you want to turn that into your usual personal diatribe against me, fine.

But some RJ guys here will get some ideas & hints, and can follow my example. And I'll continue to help them with their travel arrangements in private e-mails.

BTW, you distorted my words (when do you not). When I wrote "from our gay friends alone" I meant that excluded our own stays there, plus gays from around the country I've encouraged to take rooms there, who are not my friends. I never used the word "straight" (who cannot stay at this hotel), but It doesn't surprise me to see you snap at any false attempt to discredit me. You really are rather transparent, you know.

His point is that you mention these favors so often, it's tiring.

Tell a story when there's a story to be told, not simply because you're still breathing and have wind to waste.

That reminds me of what a friend did when I was young. His family was very prosperous and well-known. He went into a store and was upset because there were people ahead of him. When he demanded attention and didn't get it, he said, "Do you know who I am?" The clerk replied, "It doesn't matter who you are. You will have to wait your turn." Good for the clerk!! My friend's mother always impressed me as a snob. She came from a poor family and married money.

Or because I might meet some other RJers in Key West? Which I've done before, and we had dinner together, and did other stuff? And these "favors" I get were shared with RJ members. Which is a major part of why I announce my travels, to meet other members here.

Your very narrow & parochial view could use some expanding. Perhaps a little maturity and travel would provide you with what you lack.

I must be the problem if I think that baiting with your 'status' and promises of free shit is a little absurd. You said you'd notify them individually, you said this publicly. Cute.

I guess it's great that you can offer these things - at least it's not going to waste... I just don't remember the post having the offer to begin with. It originally seemed a bit needlessly showy...

I don't know who'll be visiting KW from here, so I broadcast it. In the past guys have notified me. But I also directly notify KW friends of our plans, usually by phone.

"Free shit" is a rather mercenary way of stating it, not to mention inaccurate. RJers enjoyed our veranda overlooking Duval Street, shared dinner with us there, went to restaurants we know, or did other stuff together with us.

But rest easy, I will never host you in Key West. Wouldn't want to waste any wind on you, as you say.

So they are paying for these things? You make it seem as though you are offering these types of amenities... I hope you aren't inviting people under this pretense, bait and switch style.

(You still haven't spoken about the fact that the offer wasn't originally in the post. It had seemed like an opportunity to tell the world about your connections.. This is why I was objecting. I have no problem with you sharing your gifts to meet new people.)

In some cases we covered it, other cases it was Dutch. Depends on the circumstances. I can't imagine what you mean by bait & switch. We have nothing to offer but our company and knowledge of KW, since we take pleasure in sharing, and playing tour guides. A concept apparently alien to you and southbeach1500.

Evidently leaving out the magic phrase "let me know if you'll be down there" threw you into fits. Its omission in the past hasn't prevented RJers from contacting me, and my trips to KW are so frequent I didn't think to include it.

Sorry if you felt left out. But then, you are.

Oh, you're too funny. I understand visiting with people in the area. I definitely understand offering company and insider touristy information.

I don't understand changing a post to protect yourself when called out for the thousandth time on being full of yourself and taking every opportunity to flaunt everything you supposedly have.
I don't understand seemingly offering free shit (There's that phrase again) and then taking it back.
Even worse when you ask for pity, talk about being near death, and then flip a 180 the next day to talk about your brave disobedience of doctor's orders.
Before you suggest it, I'm gonna block you. I hear enough from people like you (whether warranted or not) in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley.
