Civil Rights were paramount for Ms. Rand. If you put anything above your Civil Rights, she thought you were a wretched example of a human being.

She still thought of homosexuals, bisexuals and transsexuals as wretched examples of human beings anyway, but go her for having the balls to say "hey- let them live their disgusting lives because it makes them happy."

I think it's interesting how the conservative movement embraces Ayn Rand as this great paragon of the Right, yet--just like they do with the bible--want to cherry pick the aspects that suit their various crusades and blithely ignore the rest.

Personally, I think Rand, who was a master of self-promotion, had a very cruel worldview. Plus, she was a terrible writer. I don't know why anybody takes her seriously.

My customers tend to be rich university philanthropic organizations, and attempts by conservative donors to fund chairs and centers for Ayn Rand teaching and research are always rejected. She was not a great intellectual and is not taken seriously by professional scholars.
