Time to turn in my Mesozoic era cell phone and become modern. Thinking of getting an Android phone. Don't want a contract nor pay a lot of money for a plan, but I do want unlimited text/data/web/apps. Phone minutes I don't really care about...300 minutes/month would be plenty for me. Looking into Virgin Mobile and Metro PCS. Which one's better? Are there any other full service pay-as-you-go plans out there? (New England area)

Virgin Mobile has a $35 plan unlimited text/web/300 minutes. Metro PCS is $50...only difference is unlimited phone.

I have a Straight Talk phone. 1000 min. talk time, 30 mb data (about 300 pages), 1000 text messages. Two plans available, one for $30 (mine), and an unlimited talk, data, text for $45. I've never used all of my minutes. I can download my email, and have limited internet access. I'm not interested in a smart phone, I don't spend that much time "connected".

Went with the Virgin Mobile. Heard it's better coverage in my area than Metro PCS and it's slightly less expensive. Now I need to learn how to operate an Android phone.

OK, I'm ready to date someone now! icon_biggrin.gif

Virgin Mobile is an MVNO for Sprint. So yeah, coverage is generally better in major metro areas. If you live in slightly rural areas, your coverage might be so-so because you don't have access to the roaming partner towers. It's strictly Sprint towers on VM.

Hope you got the Motorola model. That's VM's best phone offering right now. Also, check this thread for recommended apps..
