Yikes. Totally not meant as an Asian slam.

I would have posted this regardless of the venue where I found it. It is such an unusual find, ya know.

To be clear, I shop here on a regular basis.

I don't know where I'd be in life without Super H-mart.

Bungs are often used for sausage. If this freaks you out, I have some bad news about artisan bologna and mortadella.

Somewhere I have a DVD with Julia Child messing around in the kitchen with some bungs before she stuffs them.

It's the old saying about hot dogs: "lips and assholes".

Or generally anything concerning sausage, wherein you probably don't want to think too long about how it was made. icon_smile.gif

I thought it was strange enough that H-mart sells pig uteri.

And just yesterday I was reading an article about nomadic Kazakhs and their renowned soup, which is basically a whole sheep's head in boiling broth.

As Alpha posted earlier, you have to give some of these people credit for not letting any part of an animal go to waste. Western people are pretty wimpy when it comes to consuming certain meats and various parts of an animal.

Don't think I'll be trying pig uterus or rectum bung any time soon, though.

Yeah, I went and looked this up. Very interesting cuisine including the sausage made from smoked horse meat. icon_eek.gif

Only because it is from Berkshire Pork (sorta comparable to beef better than Angus but not quite as fine as Wagyū/Kōbe Beef)

If it were from more common breed of pork, I'd say you'd be spot on.

Although you'd probably be able to stuff a heck of a lot of meat in that bung.

    [Did I say that?]

I could have swore it'd been Mississippi. They eat everything off the pig there too. I was watching Hairy Bikers on TLC, they went to a place that served pig-ear sandwiches. And people were running up in there...

My dad hates pork. For years we never ate it because apparently that's the only meat that the slaves were fed, and we were NOT to be eating that. (and the whole unclean animal thing too)

BTW, I learn in AG class that pig shit is the foulest smelling shit and it never comes off. GACK!

I have a very visceral reaction to certain foods that I associate with feeling personally diminished and never again had them in my own house to this day, but i cannot think of anything that I avoid out of a cultural pride because certain forebears were subject to class prejudice. .... methinks your dad just didn't like
a few too many ways his mom prepared it. icon_wink.gificon_lol.gif
