Not surprising! And so much for an interest in "immigration reform". Oh wait, this IS his idea of "reform".

Well at least he didn't grant them all amnesty like Mr Reagan did, eh?

Did you read the article? It has nothing to do with Obama:

WaPoExperts say that Border Patrol apprehensions are a useful marker for estimating the total flow of illegal migrants, though imprecise because the U.S. government has no idea how many are not caught. But coupled with census and labor data from both countries that show far fewer Mexicans coming to the United States and many returning home, it appears that the historic flood of Mexican migration north has slowed dramatically.

And, though I personally don't find it laudable, deportations have surged under Obama. icon_rolleyes.gif

    From the same article:
"The lower number of apprehensions supports the Obama administration’s contention that the border is more secure than ever — that the doubling of Border Patrol agents since 2004, along with hundreds of miles of new fence, cameras, lights, sensors and Predator drones, has helped slow the illegal flow northward."

Better hope Newt doesn't get in - he wants to repeat what Reagan did. icon_wink.gif

    From the same article:

"GOP presidential contenders Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney have been sparring over the estimated 11 million people living illegally in the United States. Gingrich says it would be heartless to kick out migrants who have worked and raised families here for years, while Romney blasted Gingrich for supporting “amnesty” for illegal residents but has not given a clear answer on what he would do."

Immigration is nothing more than a political football to entertain the Tea Party racists.

Once elected, the President will do what the corporate lobbyists tell him to do.

Cracking down or not on immigration issues has nothing to do with racism. But you are correct on the latter portion, presidents usually won't do anything when they get in office.

Until there are images of Canadians (no offense), Irish, Russian and British illegals as part of the rhetoric of illegal immigration, it will remain a racist project.

The "face" of anything, including immigration issues has to be representative of a majority, and in this case a vast majority. Mexicans make up 90% of illegal aliens.

It has never been and never will be a "racist project" to combat illegal immigration.

If our issue was mainly Irish immigrants, they would be the main focus, but they aren't.

What are you basing 90% on because I don't think that's accurate and the act of putting a "face" and choosing that "face" is a racist project, not deportation in itself. It's a racist project that you contribute to regularly on here.

If it was world war II I would be more suspicious of Germans than I would other nationalities. So would everyone else, and people like you wouldn't vocalize how "racist" that is. If Irish illegal immigration was the current big issue in the same way Mexicans happen to come to mind when one thinks of an "illegal", you would not be calling it racist. Recognition of that belies your repeatedly failed attempts to invent and project something racial into the situation.
