Smooth sailing, and come back to us a hero yet again, sailor! For no one who puts on a US military uniform is not a hero to our country, no one who serves under difficult circumstances not worthy of our greatest respect & admiration. I owe you a salute and a drink if we should ever meet.

Some questions from a dumb retired Army guy:

    1. Isn't your ship changing homeport from Everett, WA to Newport News, VA? Following this deployment is that where you will return?

    2. Will you have any Internet access aboard the Lincoln? Can we hope to hear from you sometimes?

    3. What's a DCFN? Is that a commissioning path, or just general training of some sort? I never did understand US Navy ranks & terms, except for my counterpart Officers (me equivalent to a Captain O-6).

DCFN is the acronym for Damage Controlman Striker Fireman.. Its a career path but not yet set in stone or specialized in either area of concern.
