Okay what is it with these republicans and their pledges
First it was the Heil Grover Norquist Pledge
That Thou shall not raise taxes under penalty of titty clamps

    NOW there's a Pledge where
    The pledge reads as follows.

I, [candidate name], pledge to the American people that if elected President, I will:

[...] establish a presidential commission on religious liberty to investigate and document reports of Americans who have been harassed or threatened for exercising key civil rights to organize, to speak, to donate or to vote for marriage and to propose new protections, if needed.

In other words, the extreme right wing is going to persecute homosexuals on a whole new level if they have power after the 2012 Election

    Who signed it? No secret
It was Huey Duey and Louey

They won't have to hunt you down if you have a smartphone. It'll lead them right to you.

This was some months ago in August, and we had a thread here about it. But good to remind gays of what these Republicans have in mind for us.

Don't be misled by the current right-wing spokespersons who try to pretend gay rights are only about marriage rights, and that we don't need those, anyway. After all, the gay Republican speaker will note that HE'S not married, and doesn't miss it, so neither should you.

But this pledge and other Republican actions go far beyond gay marriage, and strike at basic civil rights, even our right to openly call ourselves gay in the US. We have written evidence in pledges like this, in party platforms, in speeches, in press releases, in actual & proposed legislation, in their own words.

That Republicans do not merely want to restrict gay marriage, but aim to persecute gays in every way, denying us employment & housing protection and hate crime status, preventing us from serving in the military, keeping us from seeing our loved ones in the hospital, blocking us from inheriting from them.

This is very much a plan for social extermination, if not physical. But if you achieve the one, are you not inviting the other at some later point?

Actually not far from the truth. In preparing a paper on the persecution of gays under the Nazi Third Reich (my thesis having been that the persecution was far greater than Jewish Holocaust scholars wish to admit, some books totally omitting it), gays were their own worst enemies.

Under the final lax days of the Weimar Republic, homosexuality, though still technically illegal, was largely ignored by the government and flourished. Estimates are that upwards of 500,000 German men & women joined gay & lesbian clubs & groups in the 1920s and early '30s (some sources claim even more), most maintaining mailing lists for member newsletters and magazines.

When the Nazis came to power they went about seizing these lists, and tracked down gay men. Lesbians were given a pass, until almost the end of WWII, since the anti-homosexuality law technically only applied to men, and due to Nazi philosophy holding that sexual orientation was mutable, and women were needed as breeding machines.

Remembering how Republican Congressional investigators hunted down alleged Communists in the US in the 1950s, I believe there is ample precedent for them doing it again, only this time going after gays.

"Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the homosexual conspiracy in this country?" The script already exists, the history is there, this would not be a road the US has not gone down before, though it is little remembered by current generations.

Reminds me a little of #attackwatch, sans the crowdsourced snitching on your neighbors.

....which will have to include every other religion besides christian. I don't think they have a clue as to the ramifications of this.

Well, it will make it easier for the evil Republicans to find you because you live in the gay ghetto of Wilton Manors. Perhaps you should rethink your choice of living location.

After all, we've seen gays rounded up and put into internment camps during the tenure of George W. Bush... oh wait, that was Japanese-Americans put in internment camps per Democrat President FDR.

You know you're losing an argument when you have to reach back 70 years for an attack on a Democrat. icon_lol.gif

There is a well documented paper trail to concur with your findings.

After WWII, the CIA brought in several Nazi scientists and researchers. They whitewashed their records, and put them to work on military issues. Well....these Nazis also got deeply involved in politics, which led to the founding of the "New Right" movement back in the late 1940's.

It certainly ties up a lot of loose ends, including the JFK assassination, the origin of AIDS, why Bush ignored warnings prior to 911 and the 2008 financial meltdown, among other events that don't add up.

Even Mitt Romney signed the pledge? Didn't he learn the lesson from McCain's 2nd failed presidential campaign not to veer to far to the right?
