Maybe the U.S. can learn from the Swiss...they've accepted and legalized prostitution. That's a big part of acceptance of Gay rights. Then again, they are home of the United Nations' human rights body...

    This is completely epic.

Has anyone seen Perry and Santorums responses to this yet?

Any supporters of these candidates care to chime in about their comments?

I just finished watching the entire speech and I'm feeling inspired. Hillary simply and effectively breaks down exactly why the discrimination towards the lgbt community is just plain wrong. It's a beautiful speech, and I have a feeling that many people who had questions or concerns with the gay community before watching this video left feeling a little more open minded.

I plan on asking a friend to sit down and watch this with me when I go back home. Hopefully the speech could say some things to him that I wouldn't be able to express on my own.

Maybe she should have been the president.. Maybe she would be winning the battle against the Republican congress..

Some gay and lesbian voters don't feel like Hillary Clinton has done enough to support gay and lesbian rights, while others believe she is the best candidate for gay and lesbian issues. Clinton opposes gay marriage but supports civil unions between members of the same sex. During her husband's administration, she supported the Defense of Marriage Act, a law preventing the federal recognition of same-sex marriage.
"Marriage has got historic, religious and moral content that goes back to the beginning of time, and I think a marriage is as a marriage always has been, between a man and a woman." - Hillary Clinton, opposing same-sex marriages, quoted in The New York Daily News.

However, in October 2006 Hillary Clinton was quoted by 365gay.com as saying,"I believe in full equality of benefits, nothing left out. From my perspective there is a greater likelihood of us getting to that point in civil unions or domestic partnerships and that is my very considered assessment."

Hillary Clinton supports civil unions, but opposes same-sex marriage. She believes that the individual states should decide on gay marriage. Clinton also opposes a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, voting against the failed Federal Marriage Amendment.

Hillary Clinton discusses same-sex marriage in February 2007 interview with San Francisco Chronicle readers:
"Civil unions give gay and lesbian couples the stability and security they need without interfering in any way with the tradition of marriage," Clinton explains. "I support full equality of benefits, rights, and responsibilities for individuals in loving, stable, same sex relationships, and believe that civil unions are the way to achieve that goal. I do not think that civil unions should be less than marriage - there needs to be equality of benefits."

southbeach1500 saidAnd yet HIllary's boss - Mr. Obama - still believes that marriage is "between a man and a woman."

That's right mr right wing. But all of the Republicans are unabashedly pro gay marriage.

Anyway, Hillary's speech is REALLY profound.

Wow, the one great policy taken by the Obama administration and this is the reaction from those two douchebags? Santorum and Perry are pure scum. To imply that protecting gay people "special rights" is so outrageous. I think they secretly WANT gay people to be killed.

What a beautifully written and superbly delivered speech on human rights as they pertain to LGBT. Bravo, Secretary Clinton, for a most genuine and heartfelt delivery; and bravo, the Obama Administration, for establishing a comprehensive domestic and foreign policy to protect the rights of the LGBT. It boggles my mind how someone like Republican presidential aspirant Perry could say that this human rights policy is a war against traditional American values. Did he really mean to say that the traditional American values contemplate discrimination and violence against the LGBT community?
