To make a long story short, Roger Taylor is doing a talent show to build up a kinda "tribute" band to Queen that will tour North America in 2012.

This singer, Marc Martel, is in the finals (results will be announced tomorrow, december 8th) but he's not just a good singer, he really sounds AND even looks like Freddy Mercury.

See by yourself. Close your eyes, and you could really believe it's Freddy singing.

See how he's just completely upstaging the poor other girl.

I agree. He doesn't seem like a great singer. But he does a great job of mimicking Freddie Mercury.

As a life long Queen fan, he's just a imitator. He's a drag queen that sings. Freddie was much, much more. Can this kid write songs? Can he perform? I mean really perform? Does he have the ear for music that Freddy had? To impress me I'll have to see what he can create and not just what he can mimic Time will tell.

    But he is hot! icon_smile.gif

I agree with you, Freddy is unique and stuff.

But I'd rather pay to see this guy touring with Roger Taylor and Brian May than any other artist in the actual showbusiness.

Sorry, but I could only make it to 0:43. The voice is similar, he's got some of the technicalities down but the energy isn't even close.

We lost you too soon Freddie.

Trollileo saidI shit bricks when I first heard him a few months ago. I honestly thought it was just the original until I heard discrepancies between his vibrato and Freddie's.

Granted, no one can or will replace Freddie, but this guy is a gem in the vocal music world.

Perhaps he doesn't properly exercise his throat muscles.

"...the 34-year-old, newly married Martel (sorry, ladies)...

...Martel’s band, by the way, is a Christian rock band. Will singing the songs of Queen help, or hurt him in the eyes of those with strong opinions about Mercury and his sexual proclivity? Martel feels this is a non-issue. “Freddie Mercury wrote songs that were real and true. Rock and roll reaches people because it’s honest, and doesn’t shy away from the issues. You can have a great voice, but people can spot a fake from a mile away. Our music may come from a biblical standpoint but we don’t shy away from true experiences – doubt, loss, pain, sorrow – we want to deal with all of that. Queen’s repertoire deals with those emotions and feelings too and I love singing their music because at the end of the day, it’s just true.”

The winners have been announced in the last hour.

Marc Martel won as one of the 2 vocalists. Not surprising.

He's from Montreal. Also, the bass player is from Quebec city (François-Olivier Doyon). Yaaaay Quebec represent !

The Queen Extravaganza2012 will see the launch of “The Queen Extravaganza Tour,” a grand touring production booked by powerhouse agency CAA that will celebrate the music of Queen. Coming on board to ensure the touring show will match the design and excitement of Queen at its best will be such rock tour heavyweights as stage designer Mark Fisher (U2, AC/DC, Muse, The Rolling Stones, Cirque de Soleil) and lighting designer Rob Sinclair (Adele, Vampire Weekend, Goldfrapp, Peter Gabriel).

Too bad he's a fundamentalist Christian. Funny how the prospect of making lots of money can help someone to practice doublethink.
