..firstly, I'm there myself so if there are any RJrs who are also there and would like to meet for a beer or tour, let me know.

...secondly, where is good to go - I have been years ago and done the touristy stuff, I'm just wondering if there are any hidden treasures I should know about. I like museums/galleries/coffee shops.

...thirdly, I'd like to sample the - er - nightlife *coughleatherclubscough* and wondered if anyone of that ilk had any recommendations!!! Aye, I'm blushing...

    Anyone help? Cheers!!

Your lucky I would love to go to Berlin and Potsdam. They are rebuilding a replica of the Potsdam City Palace and the old garrison Chucrh which were both destroyed in the War.I am thrilled about that. There is also a move to rebuild the Kaisers Palace in Berlin..I hope it happens.I have Prussian blood in me,also part English!

    I will be there too.
Not into the leatherclubs though buddy.
More interested in where common places for gay dudes to go are like what districts and cafes etc.
And of course and fit dudes that want to say hi would be cool!

I love Germany, especially Berlin. I've checked out your profile, and you should have no problem discovering the uh, 'night life' when you arrive. I don't know if you know where you're staying, and you may not need recommendations, but here is my very favorite place to stay: Brandenburger Hof Berlin in central Berlin (Charlottenburgh). I love this old townhouse style hotel - over a hundred years old. Very nice - classic and modern all in one. This is not far from Tegal Int'l Airport, and near a number of places to check out, such as:

    *The Reichstag
    *Checkpoint Charlie
    *Brandenburg Gate
    *Theater des westens
    *Zoological Garden
    *Technische Universitat Berlin

and anything you want by way of fun & I think you know what I mean here.

    Have fun.icon_cool.gif

Berlin is simply one of the fabulous world cities with all sorts of stunning things. Now that it is again united, it undoubtedly is grander still (albeit without the interestingly bizarre social constraints effected by the hated Mauer). One could spend a lifetime and not explore all its aspects, so one whatever one does, it will be interesting. Berlin's museums contain some fabulous world treasures, such as the South Seas artifacts in the Dahlem Museum, the Ishtar Gate in the Pergamon Museum (from Babylon, constructed by King Nebuchadnezzar II), Queen Nefertiti's bust (she's been moved from the Charlottenburg Palace museum to the Neues Museum apparently), and many more treasures. The Sans Souci palace at Potsdam has played a role in so many public and private dramas over the centuries (invoking its importance to a gendarme aided my friend's mother's escape from East Germany even!!) And, the famous "Berlin light" which one can observe in the flesh which is also captured in landscape paintings of Berlin. Whatever one does in Berlin will be memorable. (Just don't make President Kennedy's ridiculous gaff by pronouncing yourself a breakfast sweet roll --"Ich bin ein Berliner"-- if you must express solidarity in such a fashion --"Ich bin Berliner" will work!)

Don't know if I will get up to Berlin, but will be leaving this week for Stuttgart and will be there into January. Hope you have a good time bud, and if anyone is in the Stuttgart area and wants to hang out let me know.
