Facebook: the new dating tool?

So I checked out a friend's profile on Facebook and noticed a really attractive friend of his. I impulsively messaged him to say I thought he was nice looking and whether he fancied meeting for a drink.

This is the first time I've done anything like this on Facebook, and I must admit it was quite exciting, especially after he replied saying that he was up for it.

So, I scored myself a date with someone I know very little about; the only thing I have to go on is his profile picture. This is a good thing as there are no preconceived notions, unlike a dating profile where you paint a basic picture of yourself.

Anyone done anything like this before?

Just met an RJ'er last night that I've known via these forums for a year or so.

Other than that, I've only met about 400+ random people through the internet. Most were for business, but a few were really hot hookups. icon_biggrin.gif

I've never done that, but I have facebook stalked guys I was interested in. After a date or two it's not unusual to add one another on facebook, you can tell a lot about a person from that.

There is one guy that I used to see on about 2/3rds of my GLBT friend's friend lists and I honestly don't think I've ever met him. He is really cute and it is weird that I kept seeing him in pictures with people I know and for events I was also attending but I never met the guy LOL. I supposed if I wasn't actively planning a move across the country I would have pursued it LOL, very strange though
