since choosing between the two lifestyles [gay and straight] is a choice, are there gays who would choose to live as straight? and if so, why?

i came across a number of gays here, like the south asian, longblack [http://www.realjock.com/Longblack] in the "do gay love exist?" thread who made the racist comment of "ugg another brown guy"

he was asking for a partner to hookup with, but on the condition the partner acts "straight" icon_confused.gif

If I could choose to be straight, I'd have chosen that back in middle school when I realized I'm not.
Fortunately I eventually realized it's not a choice, and accepted myself as is.

I think one can "choose" however they want to live. We are all given freedom by human rights but also bounded by social expectations and laws.

I can choose to live like a stereotypical black who listens to and plays rap music, wear baggie clothes and immerse myself into the Black's culture, or even tan/pigment my skin to look more like a Black person.

I can choose to live like a stereotypical white who watch indie films, buy Apple products and drink my Starbucks (read Stuff White People Like by Christian Lander :winkicon_smile.gif, avoid the beach so that my skin looks more white....

But none of those choices can make me ethnically Black, White, or whatever. I am still ethnically Asian. Being straight or gay is kind of the same. You can choose how you live, but none of those changes who you are.

That being said, there are some obviously reason why people want to deny their identity and "choose" to live another lifestyle. In fact, I think most people do some form of that.

A shy person may choose to appear more confident in an interview when they are desperately seeking a job. A ex-porn actor may hide his career history when seeking a position in teaching, because it is not social accepted.

As to choosing to live a straight life, they may do that to be accepted in the culture of environment they live in. They may do that to gain popularity, they may be fear of rejection. They may do that to please their partner, etc.

There's not a chance of you becoming straight, ever.

But you can live a 'straight' life, marry a woman, have kids and make yourself and everyone in your life extremely unhappy in the process. No woman deserves to be betrayed like that.
