This is hilarious. So much for the GOP cleaning Obama's clock when they can't even beat him in SC.

NBC/MaristThe biggest surprise is in the new NBC/Marist poll of South Carolina, where Obama’s approval rating is a not too upside down for a reliable red state 44%/48%. The big shock is that President Obama has small leads over both Newt Gingrich (46%-42%), and Mitt Romney (45%-42%). Both of Obama’s narrow leads are outside the poll’s 2.1% margin of error. A new Winthrop poll has also found that President Obama is more popular that Republican South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. The Winthrop Poll gives Obama nearly identical to NBC 44.8% approval rating, and only 34.6% approve of Gov. Haley.

Didn't you also say they wouldn't vote for an African American either? Regardless, you're yet again reading these polls like they mean anything -- they do not --- don't take MY word for it, just ask Rudy Guiliani and/or Fred Thompson

But Rudy Guiliana and Fred Thompson were republicans and they weren't the sitting President at the time icon_cool.gif

The closer we get to the election the more the people are going to have to decide

Come on! Republican economic proposals haven't worked before - they're bound not to work now. So why change?

Again, it's absolutely silly and useless to read too much into any of these polls. For every poll that would have us believe Obama could beat any of the GOP nominees, there are others that show Obama trailing to both Romney and Gingrich. It all depends on what polls you choose to believe. I don't trust ANY of them...

The 2012 GOP field can be summed up in one word.
    ICK

President Obama will be reelected quite comfortably, and the Repubs had best just get used to the idea now.

Haley has a 37% approval rating and snubbed one of the wealthiest South Carolinians a couple of months ago. She's probably going to get booted out office come Election Day.

There you go quoting polls again, Christian. It's always amusing to see how much weight you put in polls that support your line of thinking, while totally ignoring the ones that don't. Polls don't mean crap!

Not really amusing... The presidential polls without a Republican candidate are not the bellwethers some on here wish they were. However, a governor's approval rating is consequential to the power of their endorsement within their state. Once the candidate is picked on the Republican side, then we'll see how the polls go.
