ARE YOU INTO "TEBOWING"? What do you think of the Broncs Quarterback, his 7-1 record... ... and "Tebowing"?

The Broncos quarterback has a 7-1 record under his belt, is
from a very religious family and makes his service to Jesus Christ
a public part of his life. Your opinion?

Because of his prayers and his kneeling, the term "Tebowing"
has become well known... and copied by others.. kind of odd.

Nice looking and seems very authentic about everything in his life....
Too bad he isn't with the Chiefs! icon_confused.gif

Here's a little discussion on Tebow from last week:
    http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/2008166

but to answer your question, yes. I think the guy is great. Results don't lie and at the end of the day no one is going to care about anything besides who won.

Some people here dislike because his religious beliefs and the way he let's everyone know about it. I could care less about him as a person. I watch football for the game not to judge the character of the players.

I looked a bit, but must have missed the earlier forum, he can stir the emotions, glad we've had a discussion about it.

i have no problems with it. I myself am a Christian, which isn't always the most popular thing on here and I understand why. I know that his parents are missoinaries somewhere so it is a part of his growing up that he has continued into his adult life. Some people really like that about him and some will critcize him for it. Its part of being in the spotlight of being an NFL quarterback. I think he is genuine in his beliefs and proud of him for showing it, although some on here will disagree with that.

Tim Tebow is the most exciting player to come to football in a very long time. In fact, he's the most exciting sports figure of any kind to come along in some time. What a wonderful role model for kids to look up to. If you read up on what he is all about -- separate from football -- his charity work, his work with the underprivileged, his leadership in other areas -- this is a refreshing sports star who is destined for greatness. He will really be put to the test this coming weekend against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. But as he likes to say, "If you believe, some unbelievable things can happen".Go Tebow! TeeeeeeeeeeBow!

Great rolemodel except if your gay. Why don't you support a sports star who tries and helps our community? Or are you allergic to equality?

Until you can provide any proof in which Tim Tebow has said anything personally that is anti-gay, then maybe you should sit this one out. You tried this in another thread and failed miserably. We get that you don't like Tebow -- WHATever! Where is it written that gay sports fans have to have some sort of litmus test for their sports stars on whether or not they are pro-gay or not?

I do respect his work ethic and humility. His game, I'm ambivalent about. It makes for interesting fourth quarters.

I do not respect his heteronormative stance. But I used to hold it myself, so I understand the position he's in. I have a feeling he may be family, but it's just a hunch. Perhaps wishful thinking on my part.

Tim Tebow filmed an ad for Focus on The Family, one of the most vile anti-LGBT hate groups in the country.

Jimmy Dobson said "Communities do not let prostitutes, pedophiles, voyeurs, adulterers and those who sexually prefer animals to publicly celebrate their lifestyle, so why should homosexuals get such privileges?"

Yup, your boy Tebow filmed an ad for an organization headed by a man that thinks YOU are just like people who rape kids and fuck animals.

So if he were a member of the Nazi party and didn't say anything anti-semetic it would mean he is pro Jew? I think not. You are who you associate with and fotf is one of the most vile organizations out there. So tell me, if he were a member of the Nazi party and didn't say anything anti semetic would you still approve?

May god have mercy on your soul!

Strange you said that because my mom said the very same thing to me the other day. From everything I have seen and heard him say, there is absolutely nothing that leads me to believe that Tim Tebow has any HATE in him whatsoever for anyone. There is a reason that there is a phenomenon sweeping the sports world and beyond revolving around this fine example of a man and a human being, and it's not because he goes around hating on anybody.

I prefer to ally myself with Scott Fujita:

Scott is a linebacker. Those guys do ACTUAL work on the field, get hit multiple times per game whereas QBs like Tebow have NFL rules to prevent them from getting hit in the head, below the knees, etc.

Let's just call the QB position what it is: ballerina.

And your point is....? What does the commercial Tim Tebow did for FTF have to do with GAY anything? Do you even know why he did the commercial in the first place? He had a very good reason for doing this Pro-Life commercial, and I, as do many others, applaud him for it.

As for referring to FOCUS ON THE FAMILY as a "vile anti-LGBT" hate group, I would suggest that you educate yourself before jumping to such a dramatic conclusion. Look, bottom line, I am not here to defend FTF. I'm not crazy about some of their rigid beliefs either. This thread was about Tim Tebow. But since you brought it up, go to the link below that goes to the section on the FTF website that deals specifically with "Responding In Love With An Adult Gay Child". There is no "hate" there. Granted, they may say things that we as gay people don't like or want to hear, but to call it "hate" I think is a gross exaggeration.

I admire Tebow. He's not perfect. He's not harming anyone. He's inspiring others.

As far as his affiliation with FoF, I'm okay with it. Just because you support an organization, doesn't always mean you support every aspect of it, or every belief of it. Until I start hearing Tebow start saying defamatory things about anyone, much less homosexuals, it's harmless.

I have no problem with his expression of faith. People (gays here, at least) who do should consider those who want gay people to act differently in public.

What I do have a problem with is represented by yesterday's CNN poll that reflects almost 30% believe god is favoring him because of his overt faith expressions.

I would imagine most gays don't like being equated with pedophiles and goat fuckers.

    A few other choice quotes "Doctor" Dobson has used in the past when speaking of gay people;

"Homosexuals are not monogamous. They want to destroy the institution of marriage. It will destroy marriage. It will destroy the Earth."

"Every woman and little girl will have to fear that a predator, bisexual, cross-dresser or even a homosexual...might walk in and relieve himself in their presence."

He has compared marriage equality to slavery: Saying that “time will tell” if the religious right can save the institution of marriage in America, and he noted that it took "William Wilberforce more than 30 years to bring about an end to Britain’s slave trade in the 1800s."

Nice to see that you like to defend such an organization who has spent SO MUCH time and money actively depriving your fellow citizens of equality under the law.

....AAAAND they're against anti-bullying policies, because that is the same as PROMOTING homosexuality (and that's bad mkay).

oh, about the tebowing thing..... religious gestures in public is just so overwhelmingly vulgar to me. I'm offended by it and it's an instant turn off. it's worse than seeing straight people make out in public icon_twisted.gif

    Thanks.

I was just about to search for that quotation when I found your post. I'm not saying that everyone should hide his religious beliefs; I don't. However, making a great show about praying is, in my opinion, inappropriate. Actually, I'm more concerned about how people treat each other than I am with what they believe.
