Too much is never enough or is it?

There are those of us who want to put on muscle size and then those that don't realize how too much isn't functional and is ridiculous. There's a RJ'er on this site who at 5'11'' wants to bulk up to 280lbs!!!icon_eek.gif That isn't a good look. Besides hitting that size requires taking all kinds of juice or tons of supplements.

This goes beyond wanting to be in shape.

So what is it that I'm not understanding or missing?

The not-so-uncommon fetish for extremely large muscles.

There's also a fundamental misunderstanding of what X pounds of muscle actually looks like. The reality is that most stats on bodybuilders and models lie, and that a muscular look depends far more on leanness than actual mass.

    "a good look" isn't objective.
Some people just think being huge is cool/sexy/whatever.
    Their business.
As for why: I'm sure there re plenty of forums on the psychology behind it. Association with masculinity is probably apart of it, but not everyone's the same. Shooting for "most"/"best"/etc is probably a part of it. It's hard to get bigger, naturally some people prize that which they have to work hard for. (Why climb Everest", yeah?)

^ Not what I'm looking for, mostly because it's impractical for me, but I can certainly see why some people would reach for it.

Skewed view of themselves. There's a medical term for it, which would indicate it's some sort of sickness perhaps...
