By George, who cares what that Mr Hollywood thinks anyways, a man with the morals of an ally cat. George we do not all play victims, nor feel we all need to be shoved under the one banner to make the illusion of us being biger, when all that does is robe us of our identities, and paint us all with the same brush; where a man who has taken a wife, and breeds with her, can never behold the coveted Gay Gold Card, for us Bonafide gays. Because we are not one, and we have bisexual half brothers and sisters. who have been married already, more than once even, and they cry poor, for not being able to do it agin

No seriously why do people care what George cloony thinks. It's not like him saying this changes anything or is gunna convince someone to change their opinion.

    Ah well....

Just saw George Clooney in "The Descendants" last week and it was one of the better movies I have seen this year. George Clooney just keeps getting better and better. Highly recommend it. I give it...

CuriousJock is not upset at a celebrity who defends gay rights? I knew I felt a chill, hell must have frozen over.

Wait, aren't lesbians "gay"? Since when is 'gay" male-specific?

Socialist America-hating George Clooney with his San Francisco values and his dingbat liberal horseshit, always whining about queers having equal rights or genocide in Darfur or global warming...

*pause to choke lunch back down*

Was that a good approximation of a self-loathing homocon?

Well, here's why I care what George Clooney thinks:

Regardless of what you think of George Clooney, I feel strongly that we can use all the straight allies we can get. Actors, politicians, and others in the public eye have greater visibility and a louder voice than you or I ever will.

The more vocal our straight allies are, and the more the general public hears their messages, then the more likely it is that they WILL convince someone to change their opinion.

In his book "The Assault on Reason" Al Gore explains in chilling detail how well the political machines know this. If you repeat something often enough (even if it isn't true) the general public will eventually begin to take the message as fact.

Clooney, GaGa, and the ballsy republican state Senators from New York who got marriage passed... I'm happy to have all their support.

When it's for PR, I disregard any comment/belief any well-known individual has to say.

What about Hollywood is not PR? But generally, most actors probably do speak from their hearts, giving to causes they truly believe in. The part of Hollywood which is bullshit is in what light actors might be presented when required to maintain their presence onstage.

So, for instance, a gay actor might be presented to the public as a str8 man, even one with a real life wife and kids. Or a bigot might be portrayed (until the bastid outs himself) as a regular guy who the PR might lead you to believe you'd wanna have a beer with.

But that bullshit need not discount them entirely. Many champion worthy causes which benefit from their voice. That seems to me the case here. Who cares if Clooney gets into rough sex or not.

Good lord, people. You f*cking complain because "we" are not accepted in society, we cannot marry, blah blah blah. And a person of influence (doesn't matter what type of influence) speaks on behalf of the gay community in a positive way and you're still not happy.

Exactly. Apparently, there's only room for hatred and contradiction here. Same with the thread about Anderson officially coming out. It's a pretty amusing dynamic to see play out.

    Ignore trueblueaussie.

He is in fact a self-hating fuckwit who thinks gays are being too pushy by trying to get gay marriage legalized. He posted in another thread he thinks marriage is something between a man and a woman.
