So was chatting with a friend who has a body to die for and he recommended getting ripped (cut) over the summer and then bulking in the winter. He suggested converting to a high rep routine and upping the cardio.

Im thinking therefore of doing 4 excercises for each body part. 3 x 20 reps:

Monday Chest and Triceps
Tuesday Back and Biceps
Wednesday Shoulders
Thursday Cardio
Friday Cest and cardio

With an abs session Mon, Wed and Fri also.

Thoughts?

Could I suggest a different schedule?

Monday - Chest and Biceps
Tuesday - Cardio
Wednesday - Shoulders
Thursday - Cardio
Friday - Back and Triceps

And although you could mix them up differently, your body may appreciate breaking up the heavy lifting days and the cardio days. You can still work your abs the same 3 days a week.

Also, when you work out the chest, your triceps are needed for support. Therefore, working the biceps with chest allows you to work harder on your triceps on their day. Then the weekend gives you time to rest.

Hopefully, the trainers or others more skilled than me will offer a few other alternatives for you to choose from.

Alex - I think you just need to come up with a plan and stick to it

Hey you guys, Don't see any quads/hamstrings workout. Where do legs fit in?

back/biceps

shoulders

legs

chest/triceps

rest

Since I'm a hard gainer I don't do cardio. Do enough walking and climbing stairs during the day.

yeah... don't suffer from gay man's leg syndrome. Legs are a vital part of any regime and you won't be able to strengthen them solely through cardio. You might want to do a set of one leg exercise at the start of each weight training day. That way you won't have to devote a whole day to legs. You will also benefit from releasing testosterone, which will help both in building lean muscle and in trimming down.

I'd personally recommend having a separate legs day. Bigger/stronger legs will burn fat better than any other muscle group in your body, and as the good DJBens points out, this will also cause a bigger testosterone release. You can't beat doing legs. Don't neglect them!
