My parents told me to compile a wishlist for Christmas, and I have no idea what I want...well because I don't really want anything, really. I just figured, why not get a fun video game? I'm very curious about Skyrim, and very good things have been said about it. But I'm also curious about the Super Mario Galaxy games, as well as The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Any thoughts/suggestions?

this, it's apparently incredible, and 2 weeks of goodness (they were in a "eat, sleep work play this game" kind of situation), so my gaming friends with a ps3 or 360 have told me.

Are we looking for NEW games? Something for a specific console? What genres do you like?

Skyrim is an addictive time sucking black hole.

Skyward Sword is your typical Zelda with extremely improved combat and an interesting story. Also, it's not an OoT clone like TP was.

Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are awesome 3D platformers, as well. 2 is better than 1, but they're both worth a play.

    All are excellent games.

It really is! Then I go and have the audacity to create another whole new character. What the hell.

If you like playing with other people, "SWTOR = Star Wars: The Old Republic" is coming out December 20th. It's a PC game.

    Batman: Arkham Asylum

    and the sequel
    Batman: Arkham City
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-V1ZF5cNYCs
    are both very good

The Witcher 2 is the best rpg I've ever played (though the combat can be a bit tricky for some I understand). It's also gorgeous.

Orcs Must Die is small, but very fun first person tower defense game (and I'm not a fan of the tower defense genre).

Portal and Portal 2 are both hilarious and fun (somewhat short, which I actually like) games. Focus on a neat physics bending mechanic.

All of the above deliver in both story and game mechanics and overall polish/presentation. (Well OMD doesn't have much story, but it's almost a mini-game. Like $15.)

Deadly Rooms of Death is perhaps the bestest game ever, but... I don't think most people would like it. It's an actual puzzle game; most people don't have the patience to enjoy it. But I have to mention it. icon_smile.gif
(DROD: Journey To Rooted Hold is probably the best place to start unless you're super hardcore)

I haven't played Skyrim, but the game before that my roommate had. I certainly see the appeal, but it's a bit to bland for my taste. What it has in width, it makes up for in shallowness. I rate my games, in part, by value per unit of time. If game A gives me 5 units of pleasure in 15minutes and game B gives it to me in an hour, I'll take game A hands down. Oblivion (e.g. skyrim) is a lot of time for relatively little interest, Just my opinion. (My roommate loved it.)

    Skyrim is great.

I am excite for next year tho with diablo3 and xenoblade chronicles coming out.

Btw whoever recommended ecco the dolphin... I hate that game Uhg. Many better genesis games out there where u don't drown repeatedly on the second level.
