iPhone 4S battery issues

My iPhone 4S bought 1 month ago had been doing great with battery life. Then suddenly this last Wednesday it went crazy. I'd put it on my nightstand charged at 100%, and 7 hours later at dawn it would be down to 50% power. It never did that before, normally still being at 100% when I woke up. And during the day I'd find it drained to 10% and shutting down.

So I phoned Apple Care (they always answer under 5 minutes), and they confirmed I had the latest iOS software, meant to address some battery issues. They suggested I do a complete reset to factory settings, reload the software, and then do a backup from my iMac, to which it syncs.

Doing that solved the problem! Battery life is back to normal. so maybe something for others here to consider if their 4S battery life suddenly declines. Evidently some software issues, but not physically the battery itself.

SxyDrkHair saidThanks for the info Art_Deco

My pleasure. Hadn't heard of this problem before, other than general concerns about less-than-stellar battery life for some early 4S phones, which I hadn't experienced in my first month of ownership. I never heard of resetting to factory specs being a solution for suddenly reduced battery life. But it worked for me.
