Winter Solstice is coming up this year on December 22nd. It represents the shortest day of the year.

I'm getting together with a few of my favorite neighbors and we are going to make Yule logs together, adding little notes to it of things we wish for in the coming year. Then we will burn them to release the energy. I have never done this before. I think it will be fun. icon_smile.gif

    Yule Log:
    A log about 14 – 18” long
    Pinecones
    Dried berries, such as cranberries
Cuttings of mistletoe, holly, pine needles, and ivy
    Feathers and cinnamon sticks
Some festive ribbon – use paper or cloth ribbon, not the synthetic or wire-lined type

When I was a practicing pagan for about five years, I made quite a few nifty Yule logs. I should dig up some pics of them and post recipes.

It was fun, I'm supposed to burn to release the energy of the wishes. This is a real yule log. The cakes just represent yule logs. All of the little red papers are little wishes for 2012. icon_smile.gif
