You are going to have to wait; Kwanzaa begins Monday, December 26, 2011, and ends Sunday, January 1, 2012.

We still have Winter Solstice (the original holiday) on December 22nd (Yule) and Christmas December 25th. Kwanzaa begins on Boxing Day but are unrelated.

I thought Kwanzaa was just a made-up holiday thrown in to pretend that Hanukkah was not Christmas's only competitor.

The difference is contained within the individual. Different people celebrate different holidays. Since you posted a "Happy Hanukkah" thread and there's inevitably gonna be a "Merry Christmas" thread on the 25th, I figured I'd disrupt the 1st "Happy ..." thread to remind the Kwanzaa celebrators that their holiday is now known by more than just the folks in their tiny little corner(s) of the world. icon_biggrin.gif

The Chanukah spirit has put me in the mood to make raisin kugel tomorrow! I've never made kugel of any kind before. However, raisin is my favorite from what I've sampled.
