New Yorkers I need your help. I'm going solo to nyc in January my first gaycation and I'm looking for gay places to go to. I need advice for laidback bars/clubs, larger more mainstream places and even other establishments that are a must for a gay. lol

I will be staying at Chelsea near madison square garden. icon_biggrin.gif

The neighborhoods you'll want to check out are Hell's Kitchen, the east village and Williamsburg. Greenwich Village isn't gay anymore and the few bars still left there are awful. Don't waste your time.

In HK there is Posh http://www.poshbarnyc.com/

Chelsea is the best place you'll have a few bars to choose from and access to the clubs on the west side. Here's a link to the best bars/lounges in the city. If you feel adveturous you should venture out of Manhattan to Willamsburg and go to Metropolitain that's also a cool spot.

    Have a blast man!!

I like Industry in HK and Boxers in Chelsea for gay bars. Otherwise there are a lot of restaurants all over the place...too many to mention. The Closters are cool..does not feel like NYC. That's up in Inwood (upper most Manhattan). I would spend most of my time going to the meat packing or tribeca for shopping and cool, straight clubs/bars or HK for anything "gay". I would spend very little time in Times Square, World Trade Center or the Macy's area. It's a mess.

for something a little different and more laid back, take the 7 train to Queens and hop off at 74th. Club Evolution is right there under the tracks, as well as Friends Tavern, and a block or so away is True Colors. Luchos is about 4 blocks away, and in the opposite direction is Hombres. All are 'Latin flavored' with Evolution (formerly Club Atlantis) being the largest and best presented, a fun dance club with good DJ's. Friends is a standard cruise bar, with super freindly bar staff (Ruben is just about the happiest bartender on the planet - and hot too) Hombres is worth the walk, especially if you like a darker/more cruisy atmosphere. Luchos is known mostly for its drag scene. True Colors I was only in a couple times, so I dont know a lot about it.

Club 57 at Providence on 57th St. is fun for dancing on Saturdays.
