I don't think it makes much sense to create a new topic every day for just a couple of posts. We can just put the date in our posts.

12/22/11 AM
9.5km (6mi) at a good pace.

10 miles... in 26 degree weather, first time running in a month.. it was harder than i thought.. and also, I think its time to invest in some cold weather running gear.

Totally agree with RUNNERZA, no need to reinvent a new post every day.

Decided to do a marathon on Monday 12/26 -- Operation Jack, on the bike path starting in Manhattan Beach. Gonna be COLD tonight in LA @ 40* [please don't laugh]. Race day hi projected at 61*, sunny, windy.

Good luck with the run, MarathonManiac. Those cool conditions should be just about ideal.

Ran 7 miles with friends on some trails. I averaged over 8 minute miles but I know a few were close to under 7 in spots and others were higher due to stopping to cross the mud and water.

I ran on the beach today too -- Operation Jack marathon in Manhattan Beach, CA. Clear, cool, calm, sunny, very friendly crowd of ~340 doing half or whole [2 loops]. Nearly hit my target but slowed in the second half to 4:18:00.

Well done, MarathonManiac. I'd like to get to the point where I can just run a marathon on a whim!

27/12/11:
9km (5.5mi) in the middle of the day. Quite hot and uncomfortable.

To shoxguy78 --
Where will your Feb race be? Warm or cold? The coaches say to train under the conditions you'll be racing, but that's rarely possible.

On the other hand, keep in mind that for many years the world's top 3 women marathoners were from Norway [Christensen, Waitz] and Maine [Samuelson], and somehow they trained thru the winter to run great races.

9.25 miles in 1 hr and 15 minutes. Was just jogging along trying to get the mileage in. I am now less than 10 miles from running 1000 miles for the year.

2 mi brisk walk the day after my race. Then a slow 4 mi run tonight -- sore R quad [my weak knee]. Houston is in 2 weeks, so will try a long run or bike ride this weekend.

5.5 miles in 43 mins, immediately followed by a 1300 meter swim. My body is soar. And I still have one 8 mile run to go this week, along with 4 hours of riding and 1000 meters of swimming... Its an addiction

12/29/11

Was going to go run at the Second Sole Group run and then found out about a 4.5 mile race. So I entered it and finished 12th overall and 5th in my age group 35-44. 28:52. which comes out to 6:25 per mile. I slowed down a bunch after mile 2 but picked it up for the last mile.
