Kinda of felt the same... cos many of us might have a similar story.

( I sobbed and cried like a 12 year old - at a bus station! when I was 19 over the first guy I ever loved )

I really liked this movie, and the sex scene was hot.

Yes, Tom Cullen is hot. The other guy, Glen, has an awesome personality in the movie. He made me laugh many times.

    Weekend?

Come on, not even 9-1/2 weeks?

    One weekend?

(That's why I didn't go see it. I need more than a weekend. Shoot, you can't even share the rent with one weekend.)

i'd say the film was realistic in its portrayal of people (though they did do a lot of drugs in a very short amount of time)... however, i would also say the film has some major problems and is quite contrived... it's basically a beautifully filmed play that needed to cut the third act by fifteen minutes.

Yeah, but a drug based lifestyle might be considered to
be very gay. What was scary accurate was that wierd look in Tom Cullen's eyes when he was being topped. I have seen that so many times topping guys it makes me wonder what causes it and was Tom really getting fucked In that scene to have that unfocused look.

    It was pretty good 8/10

    Pros.
-great acting, the way they discussed their problems when they were on the couch seemed real to me. Like a conversation that I would have with a close friend.
    -Realistic
-The main guy was extremely attractive.

    Cons.
    - Production; I hated the audio it had practically no music and it's audio levels were off. Some of the time it was so quiet then so loud. Also not a big fan of the choice of camera angles.
    - I felt like the movie was missing more back story but still had a lot of dead time.

All in all a great film especially compared to most gay films haha.

really mad i waited so long to check it out, i've got no optimism for english-language gay films these days (although really it's just the american ones that tend to be _really_ terrible) but it was a great indie/arthouse film in general. i find it weird that some people hate on the production, it was amazing. those tranquil wide shots? the writer/editor/director andrew haigh worked under the legendary ridley scott for years so it's not like it's just some fresh amateur. i really think the occasional audio drop-out was intentional, like one of the train scenes where the camera isn't even right up at them but way off behind people, with the intention of the audience throwing a small bit of it's imagination into play.

story-wise, yeah it's in bad form to refer to anything as "real" gay life because there is no singular real gay life but the movie definitely speaks to the experiences/mannerisms/personalities of some gays that don't usually get represented in media in favor of camp, pop culture, gratuituous eye candy with no other value, bad acting/stories (hi, shelter) and the same formulaic coming out stories.

this is up there with of francois ozon's early work, really,

Watched it earlier today, thought it was very well done. The acting was phenomenal, and it seemed very realistic to me. Something I'm sure some of us could relate to with this story...*Minus the obscene amount of drug use in such a short period icon_eek.gif

I'm glad I saw this in the theater; I didn't have much choice but to sit through the slow pace at times. I think those scenes gave a great sense of ordinary to the situation. As an audience you come in distanced from the film... even realistic scenes can seem beyond your experience. Wading in the mundane prevented the story from mimicking hackneyed tropes of drug-induced fly-by-night romances. People come into your life, if only for a brief period, and change the way you think about things. They give you hope for the future, free you from a restrictive pattern, help you be a better you. That's what's so 'real' about this movie for me.
