if someone ahead of you in a store dropped a $100 bill...........and no one was looking...and there were no cameras....would you keep it?...or tell the person they dropped it and give it back...

    i'll be honest....i've done both...[maybe with $20's more than $100's...]

If I saw/identified the person who had dropped it, i'd almost definitely hand it back to them (as I've done in the past), although, if I couldn't see/work-out who had dropped it, i'd pocket it (as i've also done in the past).

Funny you should post this topic today, cause last night I had a dream that I got onto a bus and sat down, only to find like $300 by the seat. I dreamt that I pocketed it as soon as I saw it, only for a person to get on the bus right as it was about to leave asking people if they'd seen her money. She was obviously a tourist, and didn't speak much English, and was desperate for the cash. It was a very awkward/stress/uncomfortabe dream, because although I didn't want to screw this obviously helpless woman over, I also didn't want everyone on the bus looking at me like a dirty thief.

So I'd prolly return the money.

It all depends in how the person looks. If they look like they are struggling, I will call the person and give it back. I figure this person might need it more than I do. Now, if the person in question looks like they can afford to loose $100 bills, I'll keep it.

+ If I saw the person drop it, give it back right away.

+ If it were dropped in the store. I would hang around the area and see if anyone appeared to be looking, then go to the store front and report it.

+ If it were dropped outside, look around the area and see if I can find someone who could have dropped it.

The only cases in which I would keep it would be if I could absolutely not identify who lost it. Even then I'd feel rather guilty about keeping it, and may even consider giving it to the local police department. I would do so without consideration if the amount were 500$ or more.

I'd defiantely give it to the person who dropped it or I'd turn it in. If I didn't earn it, then I don't want it.

Has happened to me. If you dropped a $100 dollar bill , wouldn't you like someone to hand it back to you. I would pick it up and give it to the person that dropped it. If nobody claimed it that would be a different story.

There are always cameras. Even when there aren't, there are always cameras.

I found a €50 in the office stairwell a few months back... kept it

    Finders, keepers...

If it was a wallet with ID or I saw who dropped it, I'd give it back unless I had a good reason not to.

I would give it back because I know that sickly feeling of losing money . I'm fortunate that the time or two I have I'm well enough off it's not going to affect my life but it could be dire straits for someone else and I couldn't in good consciousness keep it.

However I'm not a saint by any means, hard as that is to believe I did once keep an extra $100 that an ABM spat out in error.

    Fuck no.

The germs on money alone are horrifying.

    Floor money is even worse.

Give it back, cause I've been raised that way.

If my mother would find out I've stolen someones money (independent of the amount) she'd be so ashamed of me.
