MOSCOW – Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev called on Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to resign as tens of thousands of demonstrators cheered opposition leaders and jeered the Krelin in the biggest show of outrage in Putin's 12-year-rule.

"I would advise Vladimir Putin to leave now. He has had his three terms: two as president and one as prime minister. Three terms -- that is enough," Gorbachev told Moscow Echo radio in an interview, reports Sky News.

Brazen fraud in the parliamentary vote unexpectedly energized the middle class, which for years had been politically apathetic.

"No one has done more to bring so many people here than Putin who managed to insult the whole country," said Viktor Shenderovich, a columnist and satirical writer.

Putin has accused the United States of fomenting the protests in order to weaken Russia and has said, sarcastically, that he thought the white ribbons many protesters wear as an emblem were condoms.

In response to Putin's blustery rhetoric, one protester Saturday held a picture montage of Putin with his head wrapped in a condom like a grandmother's headscarf.

"We can't tolerate such a show of disrespect for the people, for the entire nation," journalist and music critic Artyomy Troitsky said in a speech at the rally. He wore a white gown that resembled a condom, mocking Putin's comment.

If the war mongers in the US keep pushing for War with Iran as pushed for by the NEO CONS and the ISRAELI LOBBY, the American public should take to the streets in multiple times these numbers seen in Russia, our protest should be a call for the removal of leaders subservient to to these war mongering interests getting rich off continuous wars at the expense of the masses. Could it be that the worlds populations have reached their limits with leaders taking misadvantage for more and more power and to line their own as well as their chronies pockets?

This has absolutely nothing to do with your favorite topic, but obviously you will use every opportunity to bloviate. Frustrated that most ignore your pearls of wisdom in the mid-east threads, so you need to expand your horizons and spam several topics here. I suspect most will ignore you here as well, except for this one response.

Oh how you love to ignore reality and hold to your 'American Exceptionalism' fantasies that everything is rosy in the US with the status quo, wars and all. I think its admirable to stir up you and your ilk from your complacency . The Public all over the world is uprising against the political wrongs being done against the citizenry and or in their names and the US is far from above the fray, Just as I wrote above, as in Russia and other places across the world, protests are due here in the US over beating war drums again.

I know you find it offensive to face reality that the wars and their backgrounds did not serve us well and that the current NEO CON lap dogs running for office under the Republican party are drumming up War with Iran just as was done over Iraq, but pull your head out of your sand hole, its time for the US public to say enough is enough just like other nations citizens are doing against their leaders corrupt efforts on whatever the issues.

Are you really so blindly accepting of the status quo, that you don't think totally unecessarry deaths of 5000 US soldiers, nearly 30,000 badly wounded, a trillion dollar debt, hundreds of thousand of Iraquis dead and more displaced as well as ruining our standing in the world, isn't worth bringing up often in light of those same God Damn Neo Cons pushing for an additional war with Iran?

Old man, do you have any children, neices or nephews that might get caught up in these idiots war games? Even if you don't you should have enough sense to know that this issue next to the economy is the most important one facing the voting public, indeed those God Damn wars are part and parcel of why we're in this financial mess in the US.

    Wake the fuck up !!!
