    Just thought I'd share in hope of motivating... as looking at these types of threads 3 years ago when i was super heavy, was extremely motivational.

    Down 100lbs of fat... up 30# muscle in 2.5 years. Started at 45, so older guys, its not only possible, but it will take 15 years off you physically and mentally. Waist went from 46" to 34", arms from 16" to 19'. Still a beasty, but a meathead beast LOL

    Consistency is key.. I had to move, change out partying, drinking and foodie friends for meatheads and fitness obsessed; totally re-learn how to eat, and fall in love with lifting.

    as much as I hate bodybuilding.com, there are some awesome stories on that site in the fat loss section. MD and RX have some awesome stuff too but its a bit more hardcore.

    id be happy to help or share some personal things that helped me along the way ... motivation and support are KEY to long term change.

    off my soapbox now icon_smile.gif.. hope a few old farts are inspired to take the plunge.rick-beforeafter.jpg

    Wow, you look great! A lot of hard work, I know! I was over 200 lbs quite a few yrs ago. With work and life, it's hard to find the time to stay healthy, but it's inspirational to see others make it happen!

    This is very inspirational. I've dropped 160lbs so far but I need to make the shift from weight loss minded to building muscle. Sometimes looking at the guys here on Realjock I tell myself "what's the use, I'll never look like them" when I see all the shirtless pics. I have this fear of failue when it comes to body building that keeps me from doing it. Your transition makes me more hopeful. I need to drop the excuses and get off my ass.

    wow.. im kind of blown away.. thanks guys;

    until very recently, ive been really reluctant to put up this kind of pic... a before/after.. still super self conscious (no matter where I end up, im still the old fat guy in my head.. sucks)... BUT my main hope that even one guy would think 'its never too late' has been realized... by more than a few. Im very humbled by the kind words in the posts above..

    just keep eating right, train right (perfect form, bodybuilding focused, no 'core' or balance ball or bosu or p90x or crossfit stuff for me!!), and the MOST important thing... consistency;

    I felt like quitting many many times.. especially the first 3-4 months; but now, i quite literally LIVE for lifting, bodybuilding and fitness.. its my passion.

    Again, Im humbled.

    Looking forward to late spring actually... i have a photoshoot set up with one of the top photographers now.. shes shooting a lot for muscular development, flex etc, and when the last 20#s of fat are gone, the shirt comes of and for the first time in my life, im going in front of the camera.. more for the fun of it, and to document it.. and of course to keep pushing myself.
