That moment when... you get home from the gym and realize you forgot to do one of the more important exercises. Derp.

This just happened to me. :/ Today was back day and I totally forgot to do the only lower back exercise in my routine. icon_sad.gif

    Has this happened to you?

My remedy for this has been to ensure that I'm never doing more than four exercise per session (barbell rows, squats, bench press, weighted pushups on my "A" day, deadlifts, squats, overhead presses, and weighted chin-ups on my "B" day).

I used to do all sorts of isolation exercises and invariably I'd forget one or another on occasion :/

That's why I built a gym at home. No more worrying about which exercise I forgot to do.

Although I realize the value of variety, I'm a creature of habit. So, I rarely will forget to do an exercise. But, I do feel your pain. On chest days, I'd kill myself if I forget to do any of the million things I do.

I've been using a workout log so if I'm trying a new routine then I'll write down all the exercises beforehand and copy for later days. Also I can usually come up with some substitute when I get home. It won't be as good as at the gym but it'll work.

For a lower back substitute you could always do some supermans or some sort of hyperextension.

Sometimes I leave something out just because I get distracted by clients on the phone, unexpected deliveries, alien invasion, etc. I just make them up with a half-workout the next day.

Besides, all the kids that come over at xxxmas always end up playing in the weight room. I have to go down and make sure that they don't hurt themselves.

There's always a non-gym, non-weight alternative that you can execute if you forget to do something at the gym. You'd be surprised how much you can do at home without a weight or machine in sight.

But I've never used a log and have very rarely ever missed an exercise. If I did, then I just either improvised at home or did it the next day. no harm.

I use "Gym Buddy" on my iPhone. It's much easier when you don't have to think for yourself.
