Amazingly this year there is no snow in Fargo ND but El Paso TX has a white Christmas from a storm right before the holiday.

A green Christmas this year(unlike last)-very mild at twelve degrees, dry, with mixed sun and cloud.

New Orleans had a white christmas in 2004, for the second time in my life. just a light dusting (pic in my profile) by northern standards; but was enough to shut down the entire city.

NOT a fan of cold weather...anything below 65 and my toes and fingers start hurting.

Not a speck of precipitation all month. Looks like a drought year coming up icon_sad.gif

A few flakes and ice balls falling now though.

This was a more typical view out my window on xmas morning 2008

Fargo had a brown Christmas? Last time I knew that to happen was in 1999. I need to call my ex there tonight anyway, to wish him a merry, will ask him about it.

We're having a green Christmas (no snow) here in Western Massachusetts, which doesn't happen too often. We had a white Halloween though, a snowstorm the day before Halloween, which knocked out electricity all over Mass. and Conn. Some places didn't get it back for a week. But no snow since.

Amazing that El Paso's got snow & Fargo doesn't.

    White sandy beaches here year-round...

    front_beach.JPG

The most ridiculous thing in the tropics though is having taken up the Scandinavian/Germanic tradition of the christmas tree... so all over the tropics people ship in pine trees from the north and decorate everything with festive winter decorations from the north, like plastic reindeer and sleighs, fake snow, singing winter christmas songs like "Im dreaming of a white Christmas" etc (and most ppl from here will never ever sleigh or see snow if they dont travel north lol)....

Christmas commercialism at its best... Ever since I was a kid my dad and I were poking fun at the tradition saying we should start taking in cacti and decorating them instead lol

Yeah, I used to work on a xmas tree farm during school breaks. We'd spend all summer up in the forest, shaping those perfect trees with machetes and splints. For years. Just so people could display them for a week and throw them away. It always seemed totally futile. We packed most of them into containers and shipped them out to distant points. Oddly enough, I think most of them went to Alaska. Go figure.

I didn't have a white Christmas, but I'm pretty sure a lot of people down here did.

Thanks to global warming, white Christmas is becoming less & less likely every year. Having lived in Toronto (Canada) for the past 20 years, I used to love being indoors on Christmas day, looking out at all the snow. It used to look like a greeting-card. Now that's a distant memory. Sigh! icon_sad.gif

Thankfully the weather-forecasters have been wrong for several weeks now and we haven't gotten any. Do not like midwestern winters.

This is what I understand from my Fargo ND friends BTW North Dakota State plays Sam Houston St. Jan 7th in Frisco Texas for the FCS (I-AA) championship - decided by playoffs the way football should be.
