Too bad. I agree with many of his views but he hates gay people and people of color. Ugh
I wouldn't expect RuPaul to be a cabinet positon in hi administration.

Unfair....seeing as these are words taken out of context, written 15-20 years ago, and purpordedly not even written by Ron Paul.

Much more relevant are the real anti-gay pledges signed by Ron Paul's competitors...Romney, Gingrich, Bachmann and Santorum. I say this as somebody who has no intention of supporting Ron Paul, just concerned with truth and accuracy.

Because he's a contender for the Republican nomination for US President. He's also a Member of Congress who can vote on legislative issues affecting gays. He has many supporters around the US and his opinions carry great weight with them.

What I find funny is that all the Paulies out there that I know of are very pro-gay rights or have no opion either way...Heariing him recently I would be hard pressed to believe his views have not softened since then.

If a man like him is ever president, it would mean civil war. Either that or he wouldn't live for very long.

He endorsed the Constitution Party's Presidential candidate in 2008. Significant, since he's a Republican Congressman, and the Constitution Party is a party with no elected officials.

The Constitution Party, is a racist, xenophobic, and homophobic party on the far-right. If you thought the Republicans were full of Christian fundamentalists, the Constitution Party is officially fundamentalist, they want state and local authorities to be able to prosecute against homosexuality as a crime. I read about a protest by the Constitution Party in Texas where some of their supporters were calling for the death penalty against homosexuality.

Perhaps why Ron Paul has such an issue with gay rights being settled on the federal level i.e. the Supreme Court. He might still think it's a good idea for states to have the ability to discriminate against gay people. Lawrence v. Texas struck down the ability of states to enforce their sodomy laws. All of the progress in this country when it comes to equal rights has been won on the federal level.

Under the slim chance that Ron Paul becomes President, how could you trust him to nominate anyone of sound and sane mind to the Supreme Court, when he is willing to ally himself with a party like that advocating such policies.

Ron Paul is not the only Republican Congressman to lend his support to the Constitution Party, he's just the only one currently in Congress. Former Congressmen Virgil Goode and Tom Tancredo (Remember that wacko?) also support it, with Tom Tancredo having run for Governor of Colorado as a Constitution Party candidate.

He's an embarrassment to the human race...when people like him are aloud to have a voice in the government, it shows that we haven't learned from our mistakes and all the people that gave their lives for our freedom are being ignored and forgotten.

I actually liked a lot of what he had to say. Even though I don’t think it matters who is in the white house. I still liked his stance on the Federal Reserve, Military and foreign policy. But this changes the game.

Interesting, I interviewed the dude the day he announced he was running back in 2007. I even told him I was a gay vet. He seemed taken aback a tiny bit, maybe because I didn't come off like the caricature of Bruno.

We talked after my initial interview for a good 5 minutes about gays in the military, since we were both Air Force, and I may have been the one to get him to soften his stance (he mentioned in 2008 how he spoke with a gay linguist about DADT and how he feels is the behavior if detrimental to the military, no matter the sexual orientation, that should be the focus, not who the person is or what they do in the privacy of their homes). Basically he told me the same thing when we spoke one on one.

He's an old guy, I'm sure that, personally (especially after that Bruno caricature) he's cautious around stereotypical gays, but I don't think as a president (and he has certainly given no indication in his voting record as a congressman) that he would attack gays legislatively in the same way that the rest of the Republican field would.

I gotta say, if the Bruno caricature walked into my office and I was a straight dude, I'd be scared of gays for a good while after that. What's sad is that as stereotypical as Bruno was, some gay men REVEL in that sort of over the top behavior.

Would be nice, but probably not going to happen, because while we all HATE Congress, we keep electing OUR guy.

He's my Congressmen. The people in my district have voted him in office for 18 years now. Good thing he is stepping down after this term regardless what happens in the GOP election.
Who votes down hurricane stimulus for your own district?

well I would consider that good news, actually. I mean since all the republican candidates are such a bunch of crazy circus clowns, hopefully you won't see a republican in the white house for a while.
