    Here it is:
I discovered late in life that I love working out, the gym culture, and the fact that I want a stronger and healthier body. I have been weight training for a little over 3 years, and while I have toned up and built "some" muscle, I would love to accomplish more. My question is, at 56, what can I realistically expect. My shoulders are the most difficult for me to gain any strength, and if I'm not careful I pay the price big-time. I also have found that if I do not take at least one day between workouts, I am far more prone to injure myself. The trainers I know are supportive, but are really geared to the 20-30 year old set and don't have much to offer. Help me out guys! I'm an old rookie and I want to be the "best that I can be" without crippling myself and doing more harm than good. Will welcome all advice, and don't be afraid to give me a reality check if I need one.

<===== I am 56. And I totally expect to be able to get a buff body.

I started with a personal trainer in Oct '07 as I was coming off of my cancer therapy. With his knowledge, guidance, and encouragement, I am doing great. I couldn't do it without him tho. I wouldnt know what to do. And I wouldnt stick to it as well.

He has fixed the pain in all my joints by knowing just what muscles needed to be strenghtened and how to do it.

He has toatlly built my body's stability. I wasnt able to stand on one foot when I first went to him. Now I am all over that Bosu ball.

By Christmas, I expect to be a lean, muscular 57 yo with the metabolism of a 35 yo.

I suggest you look around for another personal trainer.
