I figured a catchy subject would bring replies.

My gym has tanning beds and while I am dark complected... I feel I could use a little more color because meh.. I just want a more consistant color. Any one have advice, suggestions, tips?

Yes. Stay away from the tanning beds and do your best to avoid skin cancer.

Spray tan. It's the natural looking alternative. icon_biggrin.gif

My opinion is that tanning beds are ok to get a base before you get in the real sun--as it avoids burning. Also, tanning beds are time controlled..and it is up to the person to not overdo it. I was a tanaholic in the early 80s....now I'm happy to just have a bit of color.

I use them for a base tan in the spring and then I'm done until about now when I jump back into it for a winter "pick me up." Just. Don't over do it.

Gotta go with the guys that recommend staying away from the tanning beds. A tan isn't worth skin cancer and premature wrinkling in my opinion. If you really feel you need some color, maybe go with a spray tan. Just don't overdo it and turn orange!

Since you have a dark complexion (or "olive skinned" like I am), you can probably get a little additional color just from spending a minimal amount of time in the sun. I would go that route. Stay out of the tanning beds and if you need to bronze it up a bit with a spray tan or lotion, get a good product so you don't look like an orange popsicle.

    NO-ONE needs a tan.

Its old-world shallow pop-culture thinking that you look better with a tan.

If you work out and are in good shape that's all you need.

Tanning beds are deadly and any dermatologist will tell you skin cancer
    has sky-rocketed because of them.

I see guys in the gym in the winter with dark tans and all I can think of
is low self-esteem and vanity issues.

A hot body is a hot body - no tan necessary!

So some research into melanotan II, it's a polypeptide hormone analog of melanin stimulating hormone. Get a tan without uv exposure! There are side effects though, among them is increasd libido ;)

Waste of money. Spend forty minutes in the sun twice a week on a lawn chair, twenty minutes on each side. Wear sunscreen, too.

Guys who go to tanning salons = only attractive to other guys who go to tanning salons = pretty fucking unattractive to the majority of people.

even though my skin is dark i tan once in the winter for a glow or after a (beach) trip if i want to get rid of tan lines. so if your going to do it, use the stand up ones. more hygenioc. the beds your lying down on the same surface as everyone was naked, and a girlfriend of mine has gotten rashes from them more then once. they clean them but not perfectly all the time im sure
