The "Out NYC" hotel, part of a gay entertainment complex under construction on West 42nd St in Manhattan, launched its website featuring artist's renderings of the project yesterday, and it did not take long for Gawker to write a scathing preview. In addition to the "hetero-friendly" hotel (being forged from an abandoned 1950's motor lodge that was built for the World's Fair), the complex will feature a nightclub being developed by John Blair (and is he really wearing a Hollister t-shirt in that video?) as well as a round-the-clock restaurant known as Kitchen, and a gym and spa where Reichen Lehmkuhl assures us Botox WILL be available.

Interesting concept - ther eis no gay specific hotel in NYC and you would think enough travelers would make this a go esp with the club XL on the first floor. Anyways, it wont open until 2012 now appareantly from the website. So look for it before the summer season of 2012. I would believe there is still time to change the name! I mean what dude on the DL wants to turn in a receipt from OUT NYC Hotel.

Packaging and marketing will be key to this working. From the looks of the website, I would say they are probably off to a good start. Like anything, it will probably be huge at first, then wear off to make room for the next big thing

Apparently the hotel will be open on 42nd Street and 10th Avenue to house gay European retirees with Elton John haircuts starting this summer...

Somebody's in bitch high gear, maybe didn't get their review kickback on time. Gawker lost 80% of their traffic earlier this year due to a disastrous site redesign. Maybe they think trashing things gay will bring them back into favor?
