"Nowadays, it’s well-known that Liberace was gayer than Pottery Barn on a Sunday morning, but the acclaimed pianist kept his sexuality a well-cloaked secret during the height of his career in the 1950s and 1960s. He lived with his partner Scott Thorson — the role Damon will play — whose autobiography inspired the teledrama."

Does anybody else find it incredible that throngs of Americans would fire or harass gays...but worshiped Liberace the TOTAL QUEEN who wore such outrageous outfits, never got married and lived in a mansion with his longtime boyfriend?

This is a good example of Liberace and his talent for entertaining...

Yes, that is a phenomenon I would like to understand better. I was young during the Liberace era, but I recall clearly that his fans were predominantly female. My Mom loved him, and so did grandmothers, aunts, and other older women everywhere. Even as a young gay man he did not interest me at ALL.

there are still people "of a certain age" who refuse to believe that Rock Hudson was gay.

i think his charisma and also how he impersonated showbiz transcended other aspects of the man . Americans are so easily blinded by glitz . :p
