It's new year, and I'm dusting off the supplements and throwing myself back in to my fitness regime. To be honest, I find supplements really complicated - every website is upselling their latest powder or tablet, but it's hard to know which ones are needed (if any) and if so, at what times and in what combinations (morning/evening/mealtimes, pre/post workout etc).

In the past I have purchased CLA, MZA and Creatine (on top of the usual intake of Whey Protein).

Do I need any more? And how often should I take them?

I'm currently 74kg, 170cm - trying to lose more body fat and increase muscle. Train regularly, but not hard enough... That's about to change!!

Cheers guys, and happy new year when it comes!

Try cycling...... You need definition first. Riding a bike hard for an hour will give you that.... then add supplements to your weightlifting regime. Remember the first 25min of aerobic exercise burns off the fat in the blood... after that it works on the last deposited.

There really is not a lot of evidence that supplements other than creatine make any difference. The key is (a) to do 100 mins of high intensity CV a week (b) get the eating right - 6 grams carbs and 1.5 - 2 grams protein a day per kg body weight and have the carbs before the evening (c) get the right resistance programme.

Creatine does help in lifting heavier weights but use a 4 week on and 4 week off regime.

    Hope this helps
