Or so says this Mensa reject...

"...receptive anal sex decreases self-esteem by forcing the person to assume a submissive position during an act of pleasure. This confuses the brain to believe that a feminine-like behavior is appropriate for a man and in turn reduces the man’s assertiveness, confidence and will power.”

Just one man's opinion based on what? His interpretation of NLP.

    Fail.

Are you fucking kidding me? Listen... top or bottom, sex is about enjoying the person you are with. That said, if I choose to bottom, it's because I want the guy I am with to enjoy being inside me. Femininity has nothing to do with it.

Me thinks he's a bit jealous of all the bottoms... either that or he did it wrong.

Sounds to me he's trying to figure out why he's such a crappy top.

To me - being a bottom is just about the most masculine thing you can be, and yes, thats my story, and i'm sticking to it.

I want a guy I can flip flop with. I mean I think it's like required for a health gay relationship. Lets be real... being men it's in our design to plow something and feeling a hot ass around my cock is just as pleasing as bottoming in my opinion.

Not just that, he has no formal education in psychology or psychiatry to make such claims.

How could it reduce your self-esteem and confidence? if you have a lot of guys wanting to fuck you....what would be bad for your confidence is nobody wanting to tap that ass

Bottom is not a feminine position.....if it's sex between two men then both are men...bottoming doesn't emasculate a man

sounds like a load of BS. Your sexual role is potentially mixed in with a ton of stuff sure, but in the end he´s just talking out of his ass.

He's also clearly never seen a woman riding a cock like it's her personal plaything. Hardly submissive behavior. icon_rolleyes.gif

Maybe he needs to stuff a polish up HIS ass, so he wont be able to talk out of it.

Actually, it sounds like you need to meet him then since his interpretation of being a bottom = submissive.

As far as I can tell, there is no research involved, just interpretation. Gay men do have self-esteem issues as do straight men. They are similar in quality and different in content. I could see there being a problem if a guy decides to do something he doesn't really want to do. However, it took me many years to realize I was much more interested in receiving than giving. There is more feminine energy in lots of gay men and I find it very attractive as long as it is genuine and not stereotyped. I think there are self-esteem issues in a lot of gay men related to masculinity/femininity, but I don't think it has much to do with bottoming or topping. There are a million reasons for men and women to judge themselves as not good enough. People get relief when they expose their self-judgments to caring others who don't ridicule or criticize, but respond with understanding.

this is the most fucking stupid thread i ever read, lol. to be honest the btm is the most masculine because he's willing to take the pain of taking a dick up his ass. lol The tops a wuss. lol. that being said I have btm before, not my favorite thing in the world, the guys got to be super hot.
